Are skirts the next men’s fashion trend?

Are skirts the next men’s fashion trend?
NY Post

In an era during which rules seem meant to be broken — and more and more people are calling for gender equality — it should surprise no one that the fashion world is the head cheerleader for change. Case in point: the Fall 2018 Menswear designers presenting a variety of skirts on their runways. ...

Here's a sample:
meninskirtstrend.jpg

Not "cross dressing" or at all effeminate, but really really dorky looking. And the models are guys who would absolutely rock a conventional business suit.

If trousers are to be passé, how about reviving doublets and hose?

Only in some parallel hipster universe.

They're simply smashing! They look like something frat pledges have to wear during pledge week.
"It is not I who is mad! It is I who is crazy!" -- Ren Hoek

"[... it seems most strange that... ] the Creator of Heaven and Earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewish lady, grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards... he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, simply cannot tolerate these assertions. If you have listened all your life to the priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled into you because of that accustomed habit. [I would argue that if you were hearing these ideas for the first time, now, as a grown adult], you would never have accepted them." -- Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, defending the Talmud at the Disputation of Barcelona, July 1263.

"God is the supreme excuse for human adults to absolve themselves of any obligation to preserve natural resources for their own children during their lifetime." -- Gene Ray

There's an inverting effect going on. They're on display because they're NOT in the mainstream.
If they were, fashion galas wouldn't give them the display time.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Who claims they are men?

By what right can one impose such a misogynistic hegemony upon genderless beings?

Even if they do look gay?

Nope.

That will never be in fashion for either sex.

The ones in the OP look more like something they might really be trying to put across.

You guys are just too bourgeois to understand.

Anyone remember when that was a high insult?

I was reacting to "doublets and hose".

But sure, there is less extravagant:

Bahrain, home country of designers Shaikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Mohamed Al Khalifa, was the inspiration for their SS18 NYFW collection.

In line with the current trend toward relaxing binary gender roles, the new collection also blended masculine and feminine, exploring masculine shapes in wide leg trousers, tailored blazers, oversized shirts, and knitwear.

The use of Arabic script was a potent message of love in a world that always seems to need more of it.

Men who try to pass as women (fully clothed) are not at issue here.

The "skirt" fashions in the OP are clearly men's fashions in the outmoded gender binary sense of the term, even if unconventional.

And that Arab gal better really be a dude, because her face is showing. :MuhammadBoom:
