The boss of my boss is now my boss

Post by Rob Lister » Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:35 pm

Just got an email: Major shake up at work (we all knew it was coming). The boss's boss was demoted (not the word they used) to my boss. My boss was promoted to my boss's boss.

Thank ed I work from home, but I gotta go in today to meet my new boss and boss's boss ( ). They'll both lay out new direction, goals, strategery...but it will be two private meetings, not one. Then a third meeting late in the day (night!) with the boss's boss's boss (the hmfic) but i'm not allowed to tell my boss or my boss's boss about that meeting; it isn't on my public calendar and the 'invitation' was sent to my private email.

fuck.

well, it should be entertaining if nothing else.

The first thing the new boss's boss did was remove all it's under-bosses personnel management responsibilities so it could fark with us directly. Unfortunately one of the people it farked with was handicapped. Boss's boss is gone now.

Just mind where you put your dirt while you're getting it out of your bosses' ditches.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

You can lead them to knowledge, but you can't make them think.

Getting to know my new 'boss', I have. It's been nearly three weeks and now I get why he was demoted.

In our small company, he appears to fill the same function as does the scroll lock key on a keyboard. We're certain it has some function, but press it as we might, it doesn't appear to do anything under any tested circumstance. It must have, at some time in the distant past, had a useful purpose, otherwise it wouldn't be there, but nobody can quite remember what it was.

Anyway, he ignores me and I am under orders (from the hmfic) to ignore him as well, and to do so as politely as possible, for the remainder of his tenure (which is of unknown duration but probably short).

Anywho, to redraw the circuit adding his function, it would now be like this:

So you need to give him the VOB treatment?

And now he's fucking with my public calendar! WTF!

I log on to the VPN this morning and check my calendar and shits been added. Who the fuck does he think he is (other than my boss). I'm scheduled for an HR workplace relations training meeting for gosh's sake. Today. NOt even so much as a head's up email.

Clearly I won't be there. I'll send a jpeg of me looking attentive and let them train that.

This requires retaliation. First careful consideration though.

Take him off your Shared Calenders list in Outlook and block him now!

Well, I clearly wasn't there for the requisite indoctrination training. I got an email to stop by HR on my next in-day to sign my attendance form. :)
