I've taken a local train on one of the routes from Kyoto to Nara to Osaka and in reverse. Very scenic country.

Japanese woo, the "Miross program" (I give no link):

There are seven schools across Japan and about 150 full-time teachers responsible for the curriculum. Seminars are also held across in Japan for an introduction to Miross.

"Miross" doesn't sound Japanese at all.

Does the name confer a cachet of mysterious wisdom of the inscrutable Occident?

Interesting, but the last tweet from that account appears to be dated 9/17.

Guess he got tired of it.

Much like DocX's Japanese references, Japan itself is getting old.

Probably something like that. I haven't encountered this in the wild. If you Google Miross, the first result appears to be a travel agency in Belgrade.

Japanese does not have closed syllables that do not involve an "n"--ん or a repetition of the consonant such as is/sho/ni--いっしょに. Sometimes the terminal vowel is suppressed if it is an "u" as in desu--です--though I think you hear a very tiny "u" in Official Japanese Broadcast Speak.

The "One Point English" video previously linked I found especially funny because the prostitute teaching English would pause and stress the copula です as "des!" as she translated "first-rate cunt lapping!"

In the rain.

Still, I didn’t have it as bad as one 41-year-old woman living in Fukuoka City. Late in the afternoon of Saturday December 2, the woman (whose name has been withheld) contacted the police after the man who lived in the unit above her suddenly smashed through his floor/her ceiling and hurled a large piece of wood into her living space.

When the police arrived, they found that the man, 33-year-old Kei Fujino, had used some sort of object to bust out a roughly square opening 50 centimeters (19.7 inches) to a side. Once he’d punched through, he threw a piece of lumber approximately 120 centimeters (47.2 inches) through the hole, smashing the woman’s TV stand. Thankfully, the woman was not injured in the incident.

The police have placed Fujino under arrest, and in what might be the strangest part of the entire ordeal, the woman and Fujino have never met each other or spoken face-to-face. As such, the police say they don’t know what prompted the attack. The apparent targeting of the woman’s television, however, could be a sign that Fujino was upset over noise from the TV’s speakers. While a noisy neighbor can be a major nuisance, the tradeoff of putting a hole through your floor to deal with the problem seems like a net loss even before you factor in getting arrested for it. Given Fujino’s destructive powers, though, hopefully the authorities are holding him in a sturdily built facility.

BBC wrote:Japanese firm to use drone to force overtime staff to go home

A Japanese firm is planning to use a drone to force employees out of their offices by playing music at them if they stay to work evening overtime.

The drone will fly through offices after hours playing Auld Lang Syne, which is commonly used to announce that stores are closing.

Japan has for years been trying to curb excessive overtime and the health issues and even deaths it can cause.

Experts were unimpressed, one branding it a "silly" idea.

According to Japanese media, office security and cleaning firm Taisei will develop the device with drone maker Blue Innovation and telecommunications company NTT East.

The camera-equipped drone will take flights through the office space playing the famous Scottish tune.

"You can't really work when you think 'it's coming over any time now' and hear Auld Lang Syne along with the buzz," Norihiro Kato, a director at Taisei, told news agency AFP.

Taisei plans to start the drone service in April 2018 as a trial within their own company and later in the year offer it to others.

Japanese people tend to feel like it's their duty to work overtime. No, they don't get paid extra.
