The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Tried to find from which German manuscript that comes, but drew a blank. I suppose it is part of an allegory about the "7 ages of man", a theme which became common some time after the Black Death, when old people were around again. Here is a French example:

Image
Barthélemy L'Anglais, Le Livre des propriétés des choses, France (Anjou, Maine), XVe siècle
Paris, BnF, département des Manuscrits, Français 218, fol. 95
And the association of scopperel (a word I learned  ) and hobby horse seems quite common in late medieval/early Renaissance imagery. Perhaps there is some symbolism in that, or the kids just used the toys at hand to play tournament.

Thanks ed though I may go to prison for liking your post.
Funny story, I have somewhere a black and white photo of my grandmother giving me a bath with my little pecker flapping in the breeze. I guess I should burn it as I'm the only one still living.

I know that location.

Jerome Avenue not far from Yankee Stadium.

The South Bronx just before all the impromptu urban renewal of the 1970s.

The Einstein picture was taken by John W. Mosley (who, strangely, has no Wikipedia page):
Temple University Libraries wrote:John W. Mosley (1907-1969) was a Philadelphia-area African American photographer whose images appeared in African American newspapers throughout the eastern United States. As a witness and chronicler of the many changes in politics, culture, sports and fashion from the late 1930s to the late 1960s, he photographed many prominent figures in the African American community. His subjects included Marian Anderson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Paul Robeson, Cab Calloway, W.E.B. Du Bois, Langston Hughes, players of the Negro Baseball League, and many others. Mosley was born in Lumberton, North Carolina, and attended Johnson C. Smith College in Charlotte. His father was a Baptist minister and also worked as a barber. Mosley's interest in photography began in the 1920s, and, when he moved to Philadelphia in 1934, he was hired at the Barksdale Photography Studio. Many of his photographs were taken in Philadelphia and Atlantic City, but he also worked in New York, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
