Samuel Reshevsky, age 8, defeating several chess masters at once in France, 1920.

Reshevsky was no lazy fuck. He might have become the greatest player ever, but chess patron Julius Rosenwald paid for his education with the stipulation that he curtail chess activities. He was never a full time chess professional, but was still one of the strongest players in the world for many years.

I did get to meet him in 1986, but I never played against him.

Why not "Fucking for Peace is like Bombing for Virginity"?

Makes the same amount of sense. And by that I mean "none".

The analogy in that sign is not a valid analogy. But then no one ever accused those people of using critical thinking.

It's not an analogy.

X is like Y can also mean something along the lines of equally enjoyable.

Viz. "Turkish taffy is like ice cream"

The relation you describe is exactly what the word "analogy" means.

Your example "Turkish taffy is like ice cream" is indeed an analogy. You are asserting they have some characteristic in common despite their differences.

Well then it was an OK analogy after all, just not the one you thought it was. :p

'Turkish taffy is like ice cream' is an analogy that works.

'Turkish ice is like taffy cream' does not work at all.

Sorry xoup.
