'Turkish taffy is like ice cream' is an analogy that works.

'Turkish ice is like taffy cream' does not work at all.

Sorry xoup.
That does not refute my original comment. The original analogy in that sign does not work. It is not a valid analogy.

If you disagree, then show me what shared characteristics these two concepts have: "bombing for peace" and "fucking for virginity".

Since we are on a forum for critical thinking, I assume it goes without saying that mere assertions are not good enough. You must make a persuasive argument explaining why you think there is any reasonable similarity between the two concepts. Explain the analogy that those protestors were trying to make.

"If you disagree, then show me what shared characteristics these two concepts have: "bombing for peace" and "fucking for virginity"."

In the eyes of the sign makers, both sides of the analogy share the fail. They do not bleeve 'bombing for peace' works. They also do not bleeve 'fucking for (in order to maintain) virginity' works.
You can lead them to knowledge, but you can't make them think.

Except they do not share the same "fail". Bombing does indeed work. When an enemy disrupts your peace, then one obvious way to restore your peace is to stop the enemy from doing that. Bombing is not the only possible way to stop them, but it can be an effective way nonetheless. That is why their analogy is not valid.

Here's an analogy: xoup's brain is like a constipated elephant's rectum.

In the opinion of the sign makers, the FAIL is shared and the analogy works ... for them. Didn't say I agreed with them, indeed, offered no personal opinion at all. But what they bleeve is clear.

Fair enough?

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

That doesn't look particularly safe. I remember when I was a kid in the 70s we had a "harness" rather than a child seat. I guess the science of how to protect a child in a car wasn't quite there yet.
