The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

@AgBioWorld
Plants outweigh others on earth. All life on Earth weighs about 550 gigatons. Of that, #plants make up 450 gigatons of carbon (GT C), followed by bacteria at 70 GT C and fungi at 12 GT C

I was going to post that but Pyrrho beat me to it. But here's a link to the original article:

http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/05/ ... life-earth

Pretty cool stuff. I would have guessed that plants account for most of it, but all animals only account for 0.36% of the mass of life on earth, plants 81.6%.

This is kind of alarming though: "wild mammals" are only 0.007. There's way, way, way more "livestock" than wild mammals or birds (and I don't even see reptiles or amphibians, what's up with that?)

Cnidarians: that means jellyfish, had to look that one up.
Annelids are worms like earthworms and nematodes are roundworms, most of which are parasites.

But it shows that humans and our livestock are much more abundant than large wild land-based animals.
A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.

What kind of fucking bullshit is that!?
"It is not I who is mad! It is I who is crazy!" -- Ren Hoek

"[... it seems most strange that... ] the Creator of Heaven and Earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewish lady, grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards... he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, simply cannot tolerate these assertions. If you have listened all your life to the priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled into you because of that accustomed habit. [I would argue that if you were hearing these ideas for the first time, now, as a grown adult], you would never have accepted them." -- Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, defending the Talmud at the Disputation of Barcelona, July 1263.

"God is the supreme excuse for human adults to absolve themselves of any obligation to preserve natural resources for their own children during their lifetime." -- Gene Ray

How we measure things in science : it’s all about the metre and how much of it is occupied

I wondered how come, so found a poorly written but explicit article about Pakistan, if you're interested: https://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2012/02/21/marrying-a-cousin-think-twice/

Definite correlation with Islam on a world basis, with a regional correlation with Hinduism.

But I expect Europe being fairly low is a recent phenomenon.

Also, I'd like to see it broken down by region within large countries. I'm thinking urban versus rural.

Every man in these countries is either a daughter-, sister- or camel fucker.
