"Sometimes the funniest thing to say is mean. You know what I mean? It's a tough position to be in. So I say a lot of mean things. But you guys gotta remember, I'm not saying it to be mean. I'm saying it because it's funny.

Funny, there is a Patriots Reporter Dude--Andy Hart--who claims "the truth is never mean."

That is his justification for describing some Epic FAIL on the part of a Patriot or other team player/coach/his son playing soccer.

Yet it is mean. It is always mean, because it is not what we want it to be.

I am not a big Heinlein fan, because he basically degenerated into soft-core military porn since he never was what he wanted to be in the military. Or as I summarized his last few books: "SALUTE me when I'm fucking you!" A minor criticism, he did some good work. Anyways, despite all of that, in his somewhat self-indulgent A Stranger in a Strange Land, his "messiah" discovers that things are funny because they hurt.

Mel Brooks put it better: tragedy is when he falls down. Comedy is when you fall down and die.

Though it is more than that. Chappell was "mean" with expectations. Two of his really awesome routines was the "Frontline" documentary on the blind black KKK leader Clayton Bigsbey:

and the infamous "Does Wayne Brady have to choke a bitch?":

The truth is always mean, and sometimes it has to be.

In the rain.

@AlysiaJudge

In their original Japanese, these lines are 1,000 years old. If 2018 has had a hard start for you personally, emotionally or even politically, it might be a small comfort that someone a millennium ago also felt damaged, but looked up.

Great win to day! And 64, you goin have to come harder than some weak racist slurs. I’m proud of my African heritage, as are 70% of the other Black players in this league. #Iaintjonathanmartin!

— YANNICK NGAKOUE! (@YannGetSacks91) January 8, 2018
"64" refers to the number of the Bills player and Out-of-Central Casting Redneck and Certifiable Meathead Richie Incognito who famously sent racist texts to a black player John Martin under the great stupid excuse that "they call each other niggers so."

Not worth the tangent, there was a lot of controversy since the same Wells who does not believe in physical laws or that smoking causes lung cancer did a "report" to show how t3h r4c1sts the Dolphins were . . . blah . . . blah . . . blah . . . the bottom line is you do not call black people "niggers" even if they call you such. One of the highest compliments I ever receive was that "you might be a white boy but deep inside you're a crazy-ass nigger!"

I do not call anyone a "nigger."

Especially if they are Wogs! What? What?

The real spirit of the laws in France is that bureaucracy of which the late Monsieur de Gournay used to complain so greatly; here the offices, clerks, secretaries, inspectors and intendants are not appointed to benefit the public interest, indeed the public interest appears to have been established so that offices might exist.

@michaelshermer

His ultimate argument: w/out God there is no justice. Me: "How do you know what God thinks is just?" Him: "Bible-every word in all 66 books." Me reading from Leviticus/Deuteronomy: "Death penalty for disobedient children, gays, working on sabbath?" Him: "That's not our debate!"
