Indeed. He should have held out for a sharp spoon.

Carr had something to say about spoons.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

@existentialcoms

I'll never forget the advice my father gave me on my wedding day, he said: "son, life is suffering, and it would have been better if humanity had never existed."

I think everyone's burying the lede on all this talk about Tom Brady. Um, you know he's really no role-model for our children. He's got, what, over 50 last minute wins? That's like well over three seasons of procrastination!

"It is not I who is mad! It is I who is crazy!" -- Ren Hoek

"[... it seems most strange that... ] the Creator of Heaven and Earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewish lady, grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards... he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, simply cannot tolerate these assertions. If you have listened all your life to the priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled into you because of that accustomed habit. [I would argue that if you were hearing these ideas for the first time, now, as a grown adult], you would never have accepted them." -- Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, defending the Talmud at the Disputation of Barcelona, July 1263.

"God is the supreme excuse for human adults to absolve themselves of any obligation to preserve natural resources for their own children during their lifetime." -- Gene Ray

This is Meyer Lansky. I wanted to pay you my compliments. Truly a great performance, but you could have made me a little more sympathetic.

Wikipedia wrote:Friendship paradox

The friendship paradox is the phenomenon first observed by the sociologist Scott L. Feld in 1991 that most people have fewer friends than their friends have, on average. It can be explained as a form of sampling bias in which people with greater numbers of friends have an increased likelihood of being observed among one's own friends. In contradiction to this, most people believe that they have more friends than their friends have.

The same observation can be applied more generally to social networks defined by other relations than friendship: for instance, most people's sexual partners have had (on the average) a greater number of sexual partners than they have.

Bumper sticker?

Enough dope and stupidity and it's prime tattoo material.

Sounds like a function of the difference between the median and the mean. For example in the US the mean household income is higher than the median household income because the super-rich bring up the average but not the median.
