The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

The emotions are still raw ...

A Departed Friend - A Rememberance of Harambe

He is sleeping, sounding sleeping
In the cold and silent tomb.
He is resting, sweetly resting
In perfect peace, all alone.

He has left us, God bereft us,
And his will must e'er be done,
It will grieve us, and bereave us
To think of this noble monkey.

While on earth he done his duty,
To all his fellow apes,
Some will miss him in his of office,
Where he often used the pen.

He was witty, always happy,
Kind and genial in his way;
He was generous in his actions,
And his honor could display.

He has held many an office,
And has done his duty well;
And his name will be remembered
By the friends that knew him well.

Friends are weeping, softly weeping,
In his kind and loving home;
Let him slumber, sweetly slumber,
Till God calls him from the tomb.

The Sweet Singer of Michigan, the scope of your readings astonishes me no end, ed. :mrgreen:

So we need some funeral music: Tombeau sur la mort de Harambe, by Sylvius Leopold Weiss (Hoppy Smith on the lute).

There was a guy on american idol, Sanjay something and he was evidentially awful. There grew a sort of un coordinated consriracy to vote him in each week as a joke.

I came across the "Sweet Singer" a while back and saw that back then people went to see her as a hoot, sorta like Sanjay.

That is really bad poetry and was mocked by Twain. Emmeline Grangerford was the fictional manifestation and her epic was the immortal

Ode to Stephen Dowling Bots, Dec'd.
BY Emmeline Grangerford
And did young Stephen sicken,
And did young Stephen die?
And did the sad hearts thicken,
And did the mourners cry?

No; such was not the fate of
Young Stephen Dowling Bots;
Though sad hearts round him thickened,
'Twas not from sickness' shots.

No whooping-cough did rack his frame,
Nor measles drear, with spots;
Not these impaired the sacred name
Of Stephen Dowling Bots.

Despised love struck not with woe
That head of curly knots,
Nor stomach troubles laid him low,
Young Stephen Dowling Bots.

O no. Then list with tearful eye,
Whilst I his fate do tell.
His soul did from this cold world fly,
By falling down a well.

They got him out and emptied him;
Alas it was too late;
His spirit was gone for to sport aloft
In the realms of the good and great.

"They got him out and emptied him"

Oh! Harambe!
Ed - 2017

Oh! Harambe!
Thou mass of hair and flesh
Laid low!
By dint of cowardly assault!
We thee remember

Oh! Harambe!
Mocked and reviled by those beneath you!
E'en here, bastion of acceptance!
Laid low! Laid low!
We thee remember

Oh! Harambe!
Did thy fleas desert you too
as your seething corpulence cooled?
Laid low! Laid low!
We thee remember

Thy fetid breath, redolent of banana!
Thy carcase, vast and putrefying!
Thy dimming visage, fading as thou face the gloaming!
Laid low! Laid low!
We thee remember

The AT-AT were the dumbest concept, particularly on an "ice/snow planet" since On Her Majesty's Service.

Hey ed!

Remember Gorilla Grodd from Flash Comics ("Silver Age")?

Back story:
A meteorite lands in Darkest Africa rendering all the gorillas in a small area super-intelligent. So they build Gorilla City, which looks a lot like the New York World's Fair.

Gorilla hits pregnant woman in head with piece of wood

NEW ORLEANS -- A gorilla at a New Orleans zoo threw a block of wood into the crowd, hitting a pregnant woman in the head.

It happened at the Audubon Zoo. Syliva Cressy, who is six months pregnant, says one of the two female gorillas picked up a block of wood that contained honey and other treats, and threw it out of the enclosure. The gorilla, named Praline, is the larger of the two females at the exhibit.

Power to the people!!!

"It put a lump on my head," Cressy says.

Good, you privledged erectwalker :x

"When it hit me, I kind of blanked out. It really took the wind out of me and I fell on my belly.

Good

As I regained consciousness, I was just worried about my baby."

Yeah, and did you express that much concern for Harambe? Thought not.

The 34-year-old woman was taken to two hospitals for doctors to check both her and her baby for injuries.

Not sure what that means except I am pretty sure that Harambe was just brought directly to a taxidermist.

Can't fool me ed.

I know you're old enough to remember Gorilla Grodd.

Or were you just not into Flash Comics?
