Off to Venice…

Post by Witness » Sun Oct 22, 2017 10:50 am

… again.

If I don't reappear: plane crash, drowned drunk in some canal (or by the Serenissima in front of the Casino dei Spiriti, where that kind of things happened).

Or too cute Venetian chick to get back.

Hope you'll behave while I'm abroad.

Venice Florida? Nice place, no canals though. I think you are confused.

If anything, the internet is better in Europe. Venice should receive a strong signal from Big Ben.
It's "pea-can", man.

Made it back.

Didn't indulge in the Internet, having already my camera gear to haul along.

Proof:

Orion over the Gheto Vechio, handheld so a bit blurry. Light pollution isn't a big problem in a city without cars and without squeamish inhabitants.

People around the world scoffed when New Orleans insisted on re-building their district right on top of the flooded ruins of their old district, knowing that it would be flooded again, perhaps very soon.

Venice wasn't saying anything.

Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

I like it! Would be interesting to see what you do when you feel up to par, because this is already good.

Taking the boat to Burano:

Image

It's fun to see how for the locals it's just commuting: one "management type" dude was working through a thick bunch of pink forms, but most were on their smartphones completely ignoring the landscape.
And then we lost them in small groups into the night, each to his own small island.

All that to have dinner at the Gatto Nero (yummmm!):

http://www.venipedia.org/wiki/index.php ... e_disposal
The main sewage disposal system in Venice today continues to be the canals and naturally occurring tides. As new technology has become available, newer forms of sewage disposal have been implemented. However, these changes have not been made throughout the whole city, and not uniformly to all of Venice's buildings, so the current sewage disposal system is a patchwork of old and new and still does not fully function to the city's needs.
