Another reason for not letting them out of the kitchen.

Saw some footage of the boat they were on and although the detail wasn't there, I do believe they should've been able to sail if they really wanted to. It's not as if the mast had broken in two or anything like that...

Further, no one puts a years worth of food for two people and two dogs aboard a boat that small...

As for the Over Rectal Barometer(tm), stock in the company goes on sale tomorrow. Get in now while prices are low... 'cause I'd really like to quit my lame-ass job and retire ASAP damnit!
You can lead them to knowledge, but you can't make them think.

There is a longish video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd2hR3AKhQY. With footage, interviews and comments.

I'm not very interested and it sounded so fake I stopped at 4 mn.

It gets weirder (they never know when to stop):
Vice wrote:Now, two weeks after their rescue, Jennifer Appel and Tasha Fuiava say that the Taiwanese fishing vessel that supposedly saved them didn't actually save them at all—it was trying to kill them.

"We were never 'lost at sea.' We knew where we were the entire time," Appel told NBC this week. "While the media portrayed a rescue with the Taiwanese fishing vessel, they were actually the reason why we called for help."

She added, "They tried to kill us during the night."

According to Appel's new story, the fishing boat intentionally rammed into their smaller sailboat and "tried to kill us during the night." Afraid that the boat captain would realize they were calling for help, the women decided not to turn on their emergency distress beacon, which was apparently onboard the whole time. Instead, she claims she climbed onto a surfboard, floated to the fishing boat, and snuck aboard, where she was able to call the Coast Guard from a satellite phone.

"I was able to get on a surfboard and get on their boat, make an actual phone call. Because no one spoke English, it was easier and safer for me to relay the information to the US Coast Guard-Guam sector that we were in danger without them realizing what we were saying."

I'm not saying that they're lying, but that's how it goes with lies.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Here is a link to a thorough debunking by an experienced sailor:

https://unreasonablydangerousonionrings ... lls-fishy/

A partial summary:

Food -- Too much, wrong kind for both humans and animals.

Water -- Unclear how they met their water requirements

Physical Condition -- They do not have the appearance of humans or animals stranded at sea for 5 months.

Storm -- Claims of hitting "Force 11" level winds are totally unbelievable given the state of their boat upon "rescue" and weather reports indicate there was in fact no storm around Hawaii at the time as claimed.

Communication -- Loss or failure of every piece of communication equipment is extremely unlikely. Not turning on their EPIRP despite being stranded for 5 months and contradictory statements about being hunted by sharks and near death defy credulity.

Sharks -- Sharks teaching their young to hunt in packs and coordination their wave making to try and tip the boat over. Total bullshit.

No Harbors deep enough in Hawaii to handle their boat after they departed from ... Hawaii.

Scum line on their boat suggests it was sitting much lower in the water for a long time, possibly heeled over on its side.

And lots more.

Thanks. I assume that one of these days there will be a tearful confession on TV.
