Caught A Hit-And-Run On My Dash Cam This Morning

Post by WildCat » Wed Dec 20, 2017 5:50 pm

I left a message with the Illinois State Police, told them I have video and the license plate. Haven't heard back from them yet.

This is why I have a dash cam in front and back, shit happens behind you too!

I'm sure the Illinois State Police have better things to do, like eat donuts. Unless the victim files a report, you won't hear from them.

They did call me back. Apparently the truck driver did not file a report, I guess he figured "no harm no foul" since the car took all the damage and if you have a CDL even an accident in which you weren't at fault can count against you.

They said Chicago police "had contact" with that car 2 days ago, whatever that means.

Oh well, I did my part.

Probably means he's wanted for something, which is probably why he ran. I have a friend who was a hit-and-run victim while bicycling. Fortunately, his injuries weren't bad, but the bicycle was a total loss. Police were able to catch the guy because he left his side mirror behind; he went to a body shop to get it replaced and they notified police. The guy was wanted for beating his girlfriend.

You did your civic duty. Your medal is in the mail.

I think that might be the reason behind a lot of hit and runs. One time a guy in a little car rear ended my Silverado while I was stopped at a light. I waved him into a parking lot nearby, we both pulled in, and then he darted out and took off. His front end was fucked. Turned out I got a few scratches on my bumper. He must have been afraid of police or something.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"
