Not sure if "It would extremely difficult for things to get worse" really counts as "optimistic"

At least put in an avatar.

How about the yellow sign, at least until you pick a new one?

I seem to recall that you were looking for a new job. Any luck on that front?

Hope things get better for you this year.

Nope. Unfortunately My skill set + being tied to this area is a bad combination. If I could pack up and move I would have had a new job months ago. I have three more weeks in this one then I am out.

I am still considering starting my own business, but the idea scares me.

And also while I do have some college under my belt, I never finished. I am also thinking about going back. I can go to community college, change my name to Jeff and start a study group.

Though I am sadly more of an Abed than a Jeff.

I started my own business with some friends about a year ago, and it's still growing. To call it scary and overwhelming doesn't do it justice. But the emotional rewards of succeeding by your own hands makes it totally worth it IMO. If that's what you want to do, my advice is to find a good business partner and a good market, and read a lot about entrepreneurship and your target market before diving in. Going to college may actually help; good opportunity to network with people at the very least.

And I still may take you up on that. Basically, right now I am looking how much money it will take to do this thing vs. How much money I will be able to throw together and will decide when I have an answer. Don't want to waste your time until then

He may know other ways of mustering the resources. I don't want to speak for ed, but I would figure you're not wasting his time if you are serious about it yourself.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"
