Mayochup

Postby Rob Lister » Fri Apr 13, 2018 4:37 pm

Finally, something worthy of worry.

Mayochup: A disgusting new condiment or just what you've been waiting for?

It’s the newest creation from Heinz.
Image
Is it disgusting, a rip-off product or just the thing you have been waiting for all your life?

Those are just some of the social media reactions to the possible launch of a new Heinz condiment called Mayochup.

Heinz is allowing consumers to vote on whether this new product — a pre-made blend of mayonnaise and ketchup in one container — should be sold in the United States.

From now through April 15, you can vote in a Twitter poll, and if the poll closes with 500,000 yes votes, Americans will have their chance. Currently the product is only available in some Middle East Gulf states.

I sometimes make salad dressing using 2 parts mayo to 1 part ketchup. It's also quite good with french fries if you add a dab of mustard. Not much of a pain to make but I approve of a packaged shortcut. Although it might be hard to find room in the fridge for it. My wife calls me a condiment junky.

If they do it (and of course they will because they're marketing the hell out of it) I much prefer the name Ketchonaise.

To be real though, I'd much perfer McDonalds' Big Mac Sauce prepackaged. Much harder to nail. Mcdonald's Big Mac Sauce Copycat Recipe

I can't recall ever putting Mayo and Ketchup on the same food. At least not intentionally.

An old family recipe.

When my mother was in a hurry that was how she made salad dressing.

IIRC, it really sucked. :notsure:

It's the sort of product I would figure would never sell, but then I thought the same thing about Hellmann's Dijonnaise.

It will probably do great in the south. I believe it is called "redneck sauce" around here.

My mother was from the South so that explains it.

Even so ... Heinz "real" mayonnaise?

That sounds delicious.

We need a mustard/ketchup combo as well.

I used to use it, then I decided I liked my sandwiches better with it separate. Either that or the product was shit.

I use mustard and mayo on sandwiches, so those go together as far as I'm concerned.

Ketchup and mayo? Well, maybe for a hamburger I suppose, although I don't generally put mayo on a burger.
