This thread proves once again that there is an entire world of things I don't give a shit about.

Which cheers me up.

Thanks. :)

They are both present, overlaid. I heard "Yanny" clearly at first, but then "Laurel" came through more, and now I can barely hear "Yanny". But it's there.

More like the duck/rabbit thing or the spinning dancer, than the blue/gold dress thing.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Here's an interactive tool with a slide bar that allows to select one or the other
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/201 ... ebate.html
I have to slide the bar 100% to the right to hear yanna and to me it sounds like a very distorted yammy.

It's weird, because in the morning I hear "laurel" but later in the day I hear "yanny". And they are very distinct, for days I couldn't understand how anyone could get "laurel" out of what was obviously "yanny".

As of this time I still hear "laurel".

Listening to it, I think it's the sound equivalent of the Einstein/Marilyn illusion:

Image

High frequencies, you see Albert; low, and it's Marilyn (squint, or step away from your screen).

Ditto: Laurel is in the deep frequencies, Yanny in the high ones. If somebody has an equalizer, try cutting off high, then low.

Weird. Same thing happened to me. It was definitely "yanny" the first time I heard it, but now I hear "laurel".

I hear both, at various times, on my laptop.
