Looked into it, want one, can't afford it just now. I did go so far as to purchase a UHD player though. Got an older Sony 42 inch HD now and it's great. Can't see the utility of curved screens unless they are really fucking big...like 80 inches or more, and I'd never pay that much for home theater.

But, I'd love to have a 60 to 70 inch UHD Sony. If you get one, make sure the scan rate is the highest you can afford as this affects how smoothly the display deals with fast motion of the material. 120 hz, 240 hz, and more...the higher this number the better. As I say, my Sony is older, but does 120 hz, and I've yet to see any fuck ups with fast motion film material, I expect some gaming situations would make it unwatchable. But I don't do gaming, so no worries for me there.

I've seen UHD presented with material that I'm familiar with and it does make a much nicer picture than HD (1080p). Done right, it's fucking beautiful.

ETA: And the natural history documentary's that have been filmed in UHD...Jeebus Cheeeeerist! Makes me weep. Damned good documentation of a world that is soon to be no more.

Thanks. You are a worthy successor to the CH mantle.

I have seen some demos that are jaw dropping. The prices at Best Buy don't seems that horrid, I recall getting a rear projection Sony for 2x what the 65" Samsung was going for. $1800? Something like that?

But we use it for movies and games and like that.

Seems that there are lots of nuances, is that marketing BS?
