http://www.newser.com/story/184634/bigf ... -hoax.htmlYou might want to sit down: It turns out that the guy who said he killed Bigfoot after luring it with Walmart pork ribs was lying. Again.
Thank goodness. I moaned mourned when I first heard that.
Rick Dyer's money-making hoax fell apart when his own spokesman learned the sad truth that the supposed corpse was fake and decided to come clean, reports the San Antonio Express-News. At which point, Dyer took to Facebook to break the news himself: “From this moment on, I will speak the truth!" he wrote on his since-deleted page. "No more lies, tall tales or wild goose chases to mess with the haters!”
You're a liar, but not a killer, and you've come clean, so I believe you.
Dyer went on tour earlier this year with the fake body and claims to have pulled in $60,000 from people paying $10 a pop. (In some accounts, he puts the figure closer to $20,000.) The corpse, however, was made by the Twisted Toy Box in Washington state, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
I really don't begrudge the guy for the hoax. Assuming he actually made any money--assuming anyone actually paid anything to see the fake big foot--good for him and good for them. They got exactly what they paid for. The same way someone that pays to see any freak show at a county fair gets what they pay for. I'm just sad that some of the profits didn't go to the Big Foot Protection Fund.
