Weird and cool.
Growing up, I practically lived outside sun up to sun down and I'm myoptic as they come. It is clearly not the only factor.

With the likely cause known perhaps some sort of supplement can be invented to counter the effect.

Something other than going outside to play. That's too hard these days. And often illegal. [/sarc]
