Medical serial killers

German Nurse Suspected Of Murdering At Least 86 Patients In His Care

I was recently reading about similar cases. Often seems to be a nurse or someone else with access to vulnerable patients.
Högel admitted he had intentionally induced cardiac arrest in 90 of his patients by administering overdoses of heart medication. He said he enjoyed trying to revive his patients, the Times reports, but sometimes failed.
And another story:

The Killer Nurse

This one starts out about one particular woman but then goes on to talk about similar cases. So it is apparently "a thing" and not just a strange fluke.

Yep its a thing and there are lots of them. Charles Cullen for instance, is suspected in the deaths of 400 people and if that turns out to be true (hell even if he is only responsible for half that number) he is easily the most prolific serial killer in the US.

There is also Harlold Shipman, who while only convicted in 15 murders, is implicated in as many as 250.

And here in Japan, there was a case where a former employee of a medical facility for disabled people went in and killed a whole bunch of them.

Not quite the same thing, but in the same ballpark.

There's also a background of mistreatment in homes for the elderly, sometimes making it to the papers.

Now, these old farts can really get annoying.

What's the big deal? They were all going to die eventually anyway.

"It is not I who is mad! It is I who is crazy!" -- Ren Hoek

"[... it seems most strange that... ] the Creator of Heaven and Earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewish lady, grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards... he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, simply cannot tolerate these assertions. If you have listened all your life to the priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled into you because of that accustomed habit. [I would argue that if you were hearing these ideas for the first time, now, as a grown adult], you would never have accepted them." -- Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, defending the Talmud at the Disputation of Barcelona, July 1263.
