Suezoled. I logged in but at times it randomly boots me out. I usually sign back in then, but I guess I overlooked that I was a guest YET AGAIN and posted it. Sorry.

No, no, not at all. I knew you had to be a regular user and was curious. Perhaps your experience will be of some help to Girl6.

Pardon my interruption. :)

Lasers burning off minor skin inperfections? I think it's for real.

The technology exists and is used.

I do know the technology exists, but I'm not sure how it works. The website came to my attention and I wasn't sure about it at all. So, thanks for looking!

Basically, it simply works by burning. The laser is an effective way to concentrate energy in a small and well-defined spot, both in width and depth, without heating surrounding tissue. You can also easily regulate the intensity.

So for a mole, you use high intensity and simply burn the surface of the skin. Antiseptic and no bleeding. Little or no scarring because deeper tissues are unaffected.

For those small veins visible under the skin, you coagulate the blood in them, they collapse and are absorbed by the surrounding tissue.

Just to add to MRC_Hans description...

Another advantage of lasers is that they can be tuned. You cen set the laser frequency to a wavelength that is preferrentially absorbed by blemish tissue, but tends to pass through good tissue. This allows for precise targetting of the blemish.

We had an instructor at AIT in 92 that was having laser surgery to remove a strawberry birth mark on his face. Some others had had him a year earlier, and called him "scarface" because the birthmark covered about 60% of his face. Byt he time I got there a year later, he had a small (about 1" by 2") mark left on one cheek.

So in other words, it really works.

By brute farce.
