Damn, TL;DR.

What is so special about these people to merit an article of that length?

Is it a sitcom? That photo looks like a sitcom.

It's probably a dumbshitcom like all the others.

I'm sure it will be enough to rile up the self-righteous of any religious or atheist stripe.

Me, I am bored.

So it should really be ...

The WHACKY!!! New Face of Atheism.

Why not? The last sit-com about a bunch of atheists was very successful, even though it sucked.

I refer of course to Seinfeld.

a.1) It was not premised on religion or the lack thereof.
2.b) You've said repeatedly you never watched it so how can you say it sucked?

Seinfeld rocked. A bit cliche now but only because everyone copied them.

I'm not sure what that means but I have been a bit pissy of late.

I mean that you have taken to calling people out for perceived transgressions.

Like you will probably correct the missing "s" on the word "mean", above.

On another note: amongst the select, it is de rigeur to fault things that the masses enjoy. For example, the snark that the chick who sang the Titanic theme is amusing. Its like "if it is popular, we cool kids hate it". Used to annoy me, now I am amused by finding instances of it.

eta: since moving down here I have become a man of the people. Have I told you about the Arcadia Rodeo I went to last week? America at her best.

Seinfeld wasn't "premised on religion" it merely depicted characters who didn't have any.

As for watching an entire episode, the short clips I saw of their allegedly best stuff were so painful I could barely get through two or three minutes.

I don't regret the experience at all.

George got religion in Season 5. Latvian Orthodox, as a matter of fact.

The writer of the episode, Bruce Kirschbaum, revealed later that he was unaware that the Latvian Orthodox church actually existed while writing the episode. His original intention was to have a fictitious sect.[1] Kirschbaum received many thank you letters from the church for bringing attention to the denomination.
