Haven't met the Pontifex Maximus yet (a blemish on my career, I know), but I loved the Vatican: quite weird atmosphere! Went to see the very exclusive clothes shop which caters for the top catholic brass – and where French politician Balladur buys his socks, the same as the Cardinals. (The kind of guy who had to have it explained to him he shoulden't always be pictured with a fat cigar in his fat mouth as it diden't please the masses, and he was running for President.)

Pope prank:

Image

The wax figure of the pope was part of a publicity stunt for Madame Tassaud, which added it to its collection in advance of Pope Francis' visit to the United States. The company drove it around Midtown, hours before the pope's expected arrival.

Someone who saw the figure of the pope riding down Fifth Avenue was concerned, snapped a photo and sent it to the New York City Police Department.

Officers investigated and found that the pope wasn't really in the back of the white convertible, which hardly looked like the popemobile. The actual Pope Francis was addressing Congress at the time the replica was spotted in NYC.

Now I finally heard him speak, and you are right on the mark there.

Came across this:

Pope Francis to Release Pop-Rock Album 'Wake Up!'

As Pope Francis embarks on his historic visit to the United States, His Holiness will spread his message of hope, faith and unity in the form of a prog-rock-infused album titled Wake Up! this November. The Vatican-approved LP, a collaboration with Believe Digital, features the Pontiff delivering sacred hymns and excerpts of his most moving speeches in multiple languages paired with uplifting musical accompaniment ranging from pop-rock to Gregorian chant. Wake Up! arrives November 27th, with the iTunes pre-order now available with an instant download of "Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!," which Rolling Stone is proud to premiere.

So you can hear a sample track if you want and I played it out of curiosity. There's music that plays for a while before he starts to speak, but when he does speak it's kind of jarring. Not sure it fits very well with the music. These are pretty banal platitudes too. Can't see anything particularly interesting in what he says, although it's supposed to be upbeat and positive I guess.

Oh, I guess I can actually embed this with one of our fancy new BB codes:

Not sure if that's how it's supposed to work so here's just a regular link:
