The Shroud, again

Postby Witness » Tue Jul 18, 2017 3:06 pm

PLOS One wrote:Atomic resolution studies detect new biologic evidences on the Turin Shroud

Abstract

We performed reproducible atomic resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy and Wide Angle X-ray Scanning Microscopy experiments studying for the first time the nanoscale properties of a pristine fiber taken from the Turin Shroud. We found evidence of biologic nanoparticles of creatinine bounded with small nanoparticles of iron oxide. The kind, size and distribution of the iron oxide nanoparticles cannot be dye for painting but are ferrihydrate cores of ferritin. The consistent bound of ferritin iron to creatinine occurs in human organism in case of a severe polytrauma. Our results point out that at the nanoscale a scenario of violence is recorded in the funeral fabric and suggest an explanation for some contradictory results so far published.

Polytrauma. It means Jesus was burned at the stake. Like any good witch would be. Or somebody. Might as well be him.

Might be any fucker whose corpse was handy.

You know, the local Bishop in Turin said it was a fake back when it first reared it's ugly head in the 1300's (?).

At no point along the way has the RC church officially certified it, and considering some of the things that were certified that is saying much.

Meanwhile the church in Turin gets donations while displaying it, so why rock the boat? 8)

BTW, if Jesus was really buried in it, this is supposed to prove the resurrection.
Not sure how that creates the image. Something to do with quantums most likely. :notsure:

If all that is true (a big if) maybe the fakers painted it with blood instead of paint.

Lamb's blood would be a good choice ;)

That's what I mean by "the cockroaches always crawl back": they just can't let go of their superstitions and burn to recruit everybody else, even when repeatedly slapped.

But, as Abdul hinted, nanoparticles is still lame – I'd be only convinced by Quantum!©

I love how one tiny suggestion of Evidences--thanks--will somehow overturn the mountain of negative evidence.

There seems to be a similar strain of 9/11 Trutherism that is obsessed with examining tiny particles from the debris of the towers under a microscope. Why? I don't know. I've never even bothered to look at those studies because it is just so stupid. Maybe they hope to find something in the debris that cannot be explained how it got there (except by an inside job! ). This is like that. They found some trace of a substance that may have had a biological origin, so . . . ?

Whatever it is, I'll bet you would find traces of it wherever you look, if it's ubiquitous in nature.

We found evidence of biologic nanoparticles of creatinine bounded with small nanoparticles of iron oxide.

So they found nanoparticles of something that could come from any animal and nanoparticles of rust. Iron oxide is rust. Found all over the world.

The kind, size and distribution of the iron oxide nanoparticles cannot be dye for painting but are ferrihydrate cores of ferritin.

Wikipedia says:
"Ferritin is a universal intracellular protein that stores iron and releases it in a controlled fashion. The protein is produced by almost all living organisms, including algae, bacteria, higher plants, and animals."

OK so they found something that is "produced by almost all living organisms, including algae, bacteria, higher plants, and animals." Yay!

And none of it addresses the evidences of fake delineated by Joe Nickell decades ago and more recently recapitulated in response to yet another fool.

The carmine of antiquity also contains carminic acid, and was extracted from a similar insect, Kermes vermilio, which lives on Quercus coccifera oaks native to the Near East and the European side of the Mediterranean Basin. Kermes carmine was used as a dye and a laked pigment in ancient Egypt, Greece, and the Near East and is one of the oldest organic pigments.[11] Recipes for artists' use of carmine appear in many early painting and alchemical handbooks throughout the Middle Ages; the laking process for both pigments was improved in the 19th century. Carmine was not light-fast and was largely abandoned in art.[12]

Let me quote the sainted Tom Paine:
Is it more probable that nature should go out of her course or that a man should tell a lie? We have never seen, in our time, nature go out of her course. But we have good reason to believe that millions of lies have been told in the same time. It is therefore at least millions to one that the reporter of a miracle tells a lie.

The context:
If we are to suppose a miracle to be something so entirely out of the
course of what is called nature, that she must go out of that course to accomplish
it, and we see an account given of such a miracle by the person
who said he saw it, it raises a question in the mind very easily decided,
which is,—Is it more probable that nature should go out of her course, or
that a man should tell a lie? We have never seen, in our time, nature go
out of her course; but we have good reason to believe that millions of lies
have been told in the same time; it is, therefore, at least millions to one,
that the reporter of a miracle tells a lie.

The story of the whale swallowing Jonah, though a whale is large
enough to do it, borders greatly on the marvellous; but it would have approached
nearer to the idea of a miracle, if Jonah had swallowed the
whale.

I like this guy. Reminds me of that 19th century atheist guy.

Came across this one by him too:
“To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”
