Jupiter flyby video. This one is best if full screen and with sound.

I could do without the 2001 Space Odyssey sound effects.

The vid is fascinating (clearly Jupiter has been designed by some mad Van Gogh), but I have to agree with Abdul about the soundtrack. Lame even for some horror B movie.

Well, maybe you guys will like the soundtrack for this one better:

If no narration, no soundtrack please.

Just like in real life. :)

↑ In that case it is a difficult symbiosis. A good "real" movie has some action going on, which sets a mood and the composer can build on that. And also discreet background sounds, not often consciously perceived but really contributing to a coherent result (if image/music/background work well together, as they should in a "good" movie).

One possibility could be to go for the real thing:

I'd be interested by suggestions. :)

I must admit Anax has a point though.

Anything but that cheezy "the alien artifact is about to manifest" sound.

Well, you can always mute the sound of course if you prefer silence.

I thought the waltz was nice myself.

The piece is "Atmospheres" by György Ligeti. I wonder why he wasn't credited while Brahms was.

Oh and edit to add, I'd never heard that lovely waltz before, thanks.

That sir is one of the most (to bang up an already over used word) awesome vids Iv'e ever seen.

Would that my Uncle Murray who serviced tracking stations in Aus., the Canary Islands, South Africa and god knows where else for the Mercury and Gemini missions could have seen this.

Thanks so much.

I watched a show that had folks way smarter than me say things like... (paraphrasing)"Mars...so like home...when I look at this I can see colonies and human habitation."

Yeah bud go to Utah it's like Mars with Mormons. :) Just with more 02, the water situation is kinda similar.
