Camping outside Glasgow, Kentucky. Booked the site yesterday believe it or not, it's an Army Corps of Engineers campground and they just opened up that campground a few days ago, all sold out now. Camping Friday through Tuesday with about 15 friends.

Lots to do in that area, maybe see Mammoth Cave, or tour one of the many bourbon distilleries. Maybe go fishing, I'm definitely bringing my kayak.

Probably go to Tennessee for the actual eclipse, the center is about 40 miles south of the campground.

We're figuring on a 97% eclipse here. Have eclipse glasses if needed but the 20cm scope and the camera obscura and the 5x5 pegboard should suffice.

But then it'll be at least cloudy if not raining.

Some pioneer astronomers:
Is this the first picture of an eclipse?

Emeritus J. McKim “Kim” Malville,” professor of astrophysical and planetary sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, said there may be a very old symbol of a total solar eclipse in New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon.

The petroglyph, a picture carved into a rock known as Piedra del Sol in the canyon, shows a circle with looping lines coming off of it, similar to the sun’s corona. The petroglyph was first discovered during a CU Boulder school trip and is believed to have been a representation of the July 11, 1097 total solar eclipse.

“To me it looks like a circular feature with curved tangles and structures,” Malville said in a press release. “If one looks at a drawing by a German astronomer of the 1860 total solar eclipse during high solar activity, rays and loops similar to those depicted in the Chaco petroglyph are visible.”

This could change, but ...

We'd only see about a 85% eek-lip here in VA anyway so I'll save my fucks for something else.

Looks like the previous forecast was pessimistic.
I got my eek-lips glasses.
I got my eek-lips shirt.
I got my eek-lips underwear

I'm eek-lip ready.

But don't forget the eek-lips nuts

The weirdest thing was walking out of my office and NOT feeling the sun on my body. We only got 80% totality here, but that was sufficient to remove that sensation

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.
