Nobody credible that I can see, Skeeve. Corbyn has stamped his authority on the Labour Party and May is rapidly losing hers. UKIP's dead in the water and you can forget Plaid Cymru, the SNP or the Greens ever forming a government.

Unless The Monster Raving Loony Party can persuade the British public to vote for them en masse. I'm not sure they could be any worse!
Shit happens. The older you get, the more often shit happens. So you have to try not to give a shit even when you do. Because, if you give too many shits, you've created your own shit creek and there's no way out other than swimming through the shit. Oh, and fuck.

I really don't see what's so tough about this.

How did they govern the UK before there was an EU?

I'll let the forum's experts enlighten you, but I'm under the impression they'd like to keep the advantages and suffer no negative consequences. That's the tough part.

It appears to me they are going for the other way round from that.

But not while you were in the EU?

I'm only impressed if you really typed that all in yourself. :p

But seriously folks ...

The UK form of government muddled through before the EU, muddled into the EU, is muddling out of the EU, etc.

Wait, the reason we need the EU to avoid war includes the Cherbourg incident of 1993?!?!

To quote:
“The 1993 Cherbourg incident were a series of maritime incidents which took place from 26 March to 2 April 1993 between the British Royal Navy and French fishermen as a result of a fishing rights dispute in and around the Channel Islands waters.”

Yes, and if it wasn't for the EU stepping in to make peace, the French may have taunted them a second time!

A lot of the wars on that list are outside of the EU, like the current ones in Ukraine.

Let's follow the course of UK politics starting with VE day, beginning a period of peace in Europe kicked off by the USA paying to rebuild friend and foe alike (unlike the end of the First World War).

Muddle into socialism.
Still controversial to say it worked or it didn't work, but no one starved.

Bitch about De Gaulle keeping the UK out of the Common Market (the "petty veto"). Then muddle into it.

Muddle into Thatcherism, which was really Reaganism and definitely not a return to the old Churchill type Toryism.
Still controversial to say it worked or it didn't work, but no one starved.

Muddle into whatever the hell Tony Blair was up to.
At this point no one will defend it as far as I can tell, but no one starved.

etc.

Note 1: so is everyone

Note 2: memories of WW2 and NATO have kept the peace, not the EU
