Ah, I see now that NBC is running the "ghost gun" scare again and citing "police sources" that the criminals are using them left and right, no actual evidence given of course. It's far easier and cheaper for criminals to just buy a completed firearm and grinding off the serial number to get the same result.

As an ex-ATF agent was firing the ghost gun they made the reporter asked incredulously "are those real bullets"?

Then of course the obligatory interview with gun-grabber Chuck Schumer who vowed to introduce legislation to ban them but, of course, blamed the NRA for its certain failure.

This is just an attempt to ban the AR-15 in piecemeal fashion. So far they failed to ban the gun, then the magazines, then Obama tried to ban the most popular ammunition for it by having the ATF declare it "armor piercing" (it is not), now an attempt to ban the "ghost gun". It never ends with these fuckers, there can never be compromise with them because compromise only goes one way and they will always come back for more and then you end up with the idiocy you see in New York and California. California now requires a background check to buy ammunition! My prediction: people will buy it by the case now instead of the box, because if you're going to have to go through all that and pay extra fees you might as well buy as much as you can afford in one transaction. I predict then they'll try to limit how much can be bought at a time. None of this, of course, will affect crime one bit but will be a royal pain in the ass for recreational shooters.

And that's one of the main reasons I voted for Trump, liberal judges apply a different standard for the 2nd Amendment than all the rest of the Constitution. A few hundred Trump appointees at the district and appellate court level and 2-3 on the SCOTUS should end that nonsense.

I am certain that the majority of crimes that involve firearms are solved by recognizing the serial number on the relevant weapons, even those filed off with a file as oppose to a dead fish, and when I write "I am certain," I mean, "helicopter upside-down cake! Excelsior!"

Trump signs bill nixing Obama-era guns rule
What was the rule?
The regulation, finalized in December under Obama's tenure, required the Social Security Administration to disclose information quarterly to the national gun background check system about certain people with mental illness.
While the list of eligible mental disorders is long -- ranging from anxiety to eating disorders to schizophrenia --those who would have been reported by the agency had to meet two main criteria: a) They were receiving full disability benefits because of a mental illness and couldn't work and b) they were unable to manage their own benefits, thus needing the help of a third party to do so.
The Obama administration estimated that the new rule would have affected roughly 75,000 individuals annually.
And according to a report by the Office of the Inspector General at the Social Security Administration, 81,000 disability awardees would have met the criteria in fiscal year 2015, which amounts to about 9% of the total disability awardee population.
Those affected would have been notified both orally and in writing that they could potentially be prevented from buying a gun.
Such individuals would have been allowed to request a relief from any firearm prohibitions if they could show evidence that they didn't pose a risk to public safety.
While the rule wasn't effective until January 18, compliance was not required until later this year -- in December. So it's unlikely that anyone has been affected by the rule.

The question I was going to ask was answered in the part of the article you did not quote, Anax:
Both the National Rifle Association and the American Civil Liberties Union spoke out against it.

The ACLU, which advocates for people with mental health struggles, said the rule reinforced a stereotype that people with mental disabilities are violent. The organization argued in a letter to members of Congress that there's no data to support a connection between receiving disability benefits and a propensity toward gun violence.

An enumerated civil right taken away by bureaucratic fiat without due process of law. Then if you want the right restored you have to hire a lawyer and spend many thousands of dollars to try to prove you're not what was never required for the government to prove in the fist place.

You can't possibly think that was a good idea, let alone Constitutional?

Getting back to the original question.

Back before he ran for president, Trump as businessman celebrity never had anything to say about the 2nd Amendment (unlike some other issues).

So the answer to "Where is Trump on guns?" is nowhere in particular and wherever it is politically convenient.

Seems like a rational opinion piece:

Anyway, I don't expect that this administration will act to restrict Second Amendment rights.

Well I have yet to receive the assault weapon Trump promised ("An AK-47 in every closet!") so...
