But will Bernie run as a Democrat again?
Or "independent"?
Or Greenie Weenie?

Biden's talking about running but hasn't decided yet.

She has some enthusiastic supporters, but... no way 75% approval in any meaningful sense. If there was even a serious survey at all, I would like to hear how the question was asked.

Presumably, it all depends whether you asked a dem "do you generally approve of Hillary"
Almost certainly much lower than 75%.
"wish she was president instead of the current president?"
(fixed, you may receive a high number, but I can't think of any other way to get it)

When was the last time a non-incumbent who declared early won? Serious question.

I'd like to apply for permission to use the special pleading fallacy.

How early is early?

IIRC, Trump (without tipping his hand as to his politics) mouthed off about wanting to be president around the time he was proposing the "Television City" project so that New York City could have the tallest building in the world again.

Santorum: Dems have a chance in 2020 if they pick someone ‘unexpected’
The Hill
Former GOP Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) on Sunday said he believes the Democratic Party could win in 2020 if they pick someone "unexpected" as their party's presidential nominee.

Santorum, asked if there were any potential Democratic candidates he was afraid of, pointed to previous presidential contests, saying all of the Democratic candidates who won were "not the favorite" at the time.

"When the Democrats win, they pick someone unexpected or someone who’s not the favorite," Santorum, a CNN analyst, said on CNN's "State of the Union."
First reaction: Ho hum. Entirely pedestrian analysis. Why even bother asking him?

Second reaction: Who could be a more unexpected Democrat candidate than Rick Santorum? Image

Unless things change greatly in the next couple of months, and they won't, it doesn't matter who the Democrats run because they will lose. There are two reasons for this

1) Trump is the incumbent. Regardless of any other fact about him, this gives him a huge advantage.

and

2) There is a huge rift in the Democratic party right now, the mainstream wing (lets call them "Hillary-ites) and the farther left "progressive" wing (Bernie Bros in the last election, though there are other contenders for that spot in 2020: Beto Bros maybe). And they hate each other even more than they hate the other party.

Either of those factors alone...The Dems would have at least a small chance. But combined, no fucking way they can win. They might as well run a 50 lb burlap sack of potatoes because they won't win. The only way Trump won't be sworn in, January 2021, is if he either decides not to run or chokes on a Big Mac.

I am not definitely predicting anything of course, but I see two possible more or less "normal" scenarios where Trump might lose in 2020.

A famous (not famous for being a Democrat) Democrat from outside the party machine (with enough money to self-finance) who runs against "the politicians" as a "real Democrat". That is, like Trump except a Democrat.

The other is that the mainstream gets a little progressive for a little while. That is, more or less the way Democrats used to win. But for that they have to get over the totally losing their shit over Trump thing and at least pretend to be reasonable.

I agree neither seems likely right now.

Democrats 'have to win' in 2020: James Comey...
Former F.B.I. Director James Comey, in an interview in New York on Sunday, responded to recent criticisms from President Donald Trump, who called him dishonest and accused him of lying in a Congressional hearing last week.

Comey also said Democrats "have to win" the 2020 presidential election.

Perhaps if Trump really screws up, or triggers a constitutional crisis, she can run under the slogan :
