In a more serious response to that, I have come to believe that the conflation of things like homosexualty with pedophilia is not just an obstinate debate tactic--I think it is a reflection of the mindset of the speaker (which is an unfortunately too-large wing of the Republican landscape) -- that condemns all sexual "deviancy" without assigning any special significance to consent or harm issues. They don't expect such a line to be respected if any of the previously "taboo" acts become acceptable, because they don't really comprehend the significance themselves. They'll agree with everyone that rape is wrong, but they will lump it and all sexual acts they consider deviant in the same moral box.
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"
