The Red Scare ain't what it used to be.
Something about Russians not being "reds".

It was very nearly respectable to admire Putin before the Democrats decided to blame him for Trump.

Trump is an abusive asshole and knowing that doesn't equate to an emotional illness.

I must have missed where someone made that equation.

Rabid is not synonymous with "abusive asshole".

I'll repeat what I have posted elsewhere on this forum: Trump is like a Rorschach Test in that people tend to see what they want to see, not what's really there.

For the record, Pyrrho does not have Trump Derangement Syndrome. He is merely biased, as am I.

Abusers do as abusers do. Far too many of them get a pass.
Perhaps that depends on how you define "abuse".

If I may ask, can you give some examples of what you consider abuse by President Trump so we can see how you define abuse?

If there is 4.1 growth and you are muttering the word Russia you might have TDS.
Can you at least acknowledge that this is a continuation of a trend that began under Obama?

The economy bottomed in 2009 and has been growing every year since then.
The growth under Obama was almost entirely from government spending which was unsustainable. And note the "Obama recovery" completely waned away in his last year. Under Trump it was from the private sector and brought on by regulatory and tax reform, which is sustainable.

No.

Just prior to the 2016 election, Trump was routinely ridiculed by liberals for even suggesting economic growth could exceed 3 percent GDP.

Not even Obama thought this was a continuation of the trend while he was in office.

Have people already forgotten this little gem from Obama from 2016?

No one here will see how cherry picking anything will ever prop up rational debate xoup. IMHO, that's exactly what you did there. Please show us all how Trump has made it all better rather than shitting on Obama.

Thanks.

On the 4.1% business... That is a quarterly figure. If someone said that was impossible, they were already wrong as that happened a few times during Obama's two terms. So sure, it was dumb, but it doesn't prove Trump started something unprecedented.

It is no secret that a capitalist economy is cyclic in the short term.

If you were Obama assuming that Hillary would win, you might low-ball your estimates in anticipation of making her look good.

For one quarter or two, yeah. During Obama's presidency there were 4 quarters when economic growth was 4% or higher. In 2014 there were 2 quarters in a row, 5.1% and 4.9%. Trump hasn't done that yet.

Funny, I was just about to post those same links.

I agree with your point (also made by others) about annual versus quarterly growth rate. It is still too early to say whether the current quarter is typical or an outlier.

Nonetheless, Obama does not get credit for the bigly corporate tax reduction that brings corporate tax rates down to the level of European rates. Nor does Obama get credit for the recent unemployment rates. Nor does Obama get credit for the higher level of confidence in the future of the economy. Nor does Obama get credit for trying to level the playing field in international trade.

So, to answer the original question, "Can you at least acknowledge that this is a continuation of a trend that began under Obama?" I still say no.

Yes, he (Trump) reduced corporate tax rates. His cronies got what they wanted, not the American worker. The unemployment rate has fuck all to do with anything Trump has done. And a 'higher level of confidence in the future of the economy'? What the fuck are you smoking xoup? Leveling the playing field in international trade. Indeed. Let's talk to our trading partners and see just how fucking happy they are with us right now and then contemplate the repercussions of that shit.

Seems you are veering away from a friendly kind of conversation. If you want to just rant or get nasty, then perhaps I should respectfully decline to participate. Otherwise I would be happy to answer legitimate and reasonable questions and explain in more detail the points I was trying to make. Let me know.

2014 also had a quarter with negative growth. Obama's growth was the result of government spending, which is unsustainable.
