Great new business opportunity in the Big Apple (if you don't mind breaking the law).

Post by Abdul Alhazred » Thu Feb 08, 2018 2:33 pm

The law hasn't been passed yet, but if I were a mob guy I'd be lobbying for it.

New York Legislators Unveil Legislation Banning Tide Pods
Reason
The Tide Pod Challenge has reached the next stage of the safety hysteria cycle, with lawmakers proposing legislation to fight an alleged menace.

Not a single child died from consuming a liquid detergent package last year, and the number of child exposure incidents has been falling steadily since 2015. Yet a pair of New York legislators introduced a bill yesterday to keep the colorful laundry aids from being sold in the state.
I can see it now. Illegal laundromats in the back rooms of bars.

I'll award a brass figamagee language award for the best "street name" for Tide pods.

I'm going to go ahead and side with the New York legislators ... a little.

Look, these Tide Pods really do look delicious.

It is an attractive nuisance to a little kid. At the very least, Tide should be more formally discouraged from marketing this the way they do. The pods can look like anything. Why make them look like a fucking cupcake?

I kinda agree with Lister here. I said it before in another thread

It's like the Aqua Fresh of laundry detergents. The cleaning power isn't enhanced, it just looks cool. And it looks like a little chew toy or teething toy for kids. It is the definition of an attractive nuisance.

Yeah, but the news isn't that kids are eating them, it's teenagers and young adults who should know better. It's like the cinnamon challenge, but slightly less dangerous.

It's a prime example of legislators rushing out to "do something" about a problem whether something needs to be done or not

Yet no 2 year old has eaten a tide pod that we know of.

Literally, the nanny state.

You of course realize 4chan will invent new retarded challenges to make reactionaries ban things, right?

Now "we" know better. Admittedly it does not specify Tide but the point remains. That's just the last 30 days.

Then again, Gram's point also remains.

Who invented this retarded challenge? Seems even more retarded than the Tide Pod challenge.
