He's even got the right facial expression to be top cop.

That would be the ultimate irony if there is ever a sequel.

After Alex is "cured" he gets a job with the police just like his droogs, but with his proven leadership abilities he ends up being their boss.

Wasn't that story supposed to be set in 1998 or thereabouts?

I'm not sure, Abdul. Anthony Burgess had the book published in 1962, (three years before I made my appearance into this sad little world, which makes me feel good). I think A Clockwork Orange was supposed to have been set in what was then the near future. Donkey's since I read it.
Shit happens. The older you get, the more often shit happens. So you have to try not to give a shit even when you do. Because, if you give too many shits, you've created your own shit creek and there's no way out other than swimming through the shit. Oh, and fuck.

Ever read Burgess' The Wanting Seed ?

A much more amusing dystopia than A Clockwork Orange.

I'm afraid that one escaped my attention.

Ever read Brian Aldiss' Horatio Stubbs trilogy? The Hand Reared Boy, A Soldier Erect & A Rude Awakening.

You should.

This deserves its own thread and I'm going to start it right now.
