In "Politics & Social Issues", no less! :)

Anecdote: my original LP of Sgt. Pepper's having been seriously worn down by the various plows I used on it, I bought a fresh one. Imagine my dismay: some asshole had introduced silences between the songs. It just wasn't the same music – gave that horror immediately away.

And here's a guy who complains about the stereo (vs. mono): https://gizmodo.com/5216258/sorry-stere ... a-lot-more.

The Kinks were better. So were Herman's Hermits.

I don't remember where I was when the Beatles broke up.

  • Hear the happy feet dancing to the beat of The Freddie.
Put your feet up, and your arms up too,
Move your head both ways like you see me do ...
Now THAT was music.

It's right up there with Soupy Sales' "The Mouse". :coolspecs:

The Beatles went downhill with the Abbey Road album.

The problem was that "Sir Paul" guy they brought in as a replacement after Paul McCartney was killed in a car accident.

Not that I think "Sir Paul" is entirely without talent, but just as Joe DeRita was no Jerome Horwitz ...

I think the Beatles were about done with Abbey Road...having said that, it is worth pointing out the following;

As far as pure "Beatlemania" levels of charisma I don't think anyone has topped them.
They had more Number 1 hits than the Kinks, or Herman's Hermits,
and
There was also a time when the Fab's had the top 5 songs on the chart.
https://www.beatlesbible.com/1964/04/04 ... -top-five/

As far as I know, no one else has ever done that.

The were the most influential over-rated band.

I neither hate nor love them.

Some work is very good. Some is complete shit. Funnily enough, Phil Collins has defended Ringo Starr. I sometimes wonder if he just did not recognize the parts played by McCartney, though I suppose Ringo had to play them live. They did not have, as far as I know, a "Real Drummer" hidden like I was told The Bangles had.

The best thing they ever did was break up. Same with The Police. They hit their stride . . . and that was it. It is "nice" that the Rolling Stones still all exist to give hope to the elderly, but when was the last time they had a "hit?"

1980s?

While Roger Waters can be over-bearing and all of that, did Pink Floyd do anything after he left? Pulse--one of the first post-Waters live albums is . . . all of Dark Side of the Moon with "Wish this Fucking Song Would End" with favorites from The Wall.

Did they "do" anything?

Did McCartney "do" anything?

Lennon had one song. Maybe two.

Harrison? Well, he gave us The Life of Brian:
Reporter: Why did you fund it?

Harrison: I wanted to see the film.
"My Sweet Lord" is something you can only listen to stoned. "This Song Has Just One Lyric, Had Just One Lyric?"

Ringo?

BWA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

So they went out "on top."

I would thank Yoko Ono for that.

John Lennon wrote the national anthem of Death Worship.

I refer to Imagine.

Music to cut your throat by.

McCartney did plenty. He had a ton of hits.

Lennon did okay but he got tripped up early by this whole death thing. Plus, he was an SJW douche bag.

Lennon -- In his time, the world's richest "socialist".

Wrote a cute little song about how awful income taxes were and then buggered off to some offshore island tax haven. :BigGrin3:

Jesus Diaz wrote: In the mono version you can hear stuff that is not in the stereo version. And not just bits, but quite a lot of things. Instruments, notes, even lyrics. Take the reprise version of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: It is full of shouting—Lennon going bananas at the end, and other bits at the beginning—that is not in the stereo mix.
I call bullshit on this one. Not that it's inaccurate--but the choice to include or remove specific recorded elements (such as the shouting) is irrelevant of the question of using stereo vs. mono. Might as well go on a rant against colorization because the version of "It's a Wonderful Life" you saw was missing a scene.

Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"
