I see. I completely disagree with you, but I am not sure I can convince you of my opinion.

I know for a fact they can

Well that sucks.

Ping Pyrrho: Is this stuff deep in the forum code or can it be changed with a mouse click?

Not sure about a simple "Ignore Foe PMs" option...might be there but I haven't found it yet.

You can go here:

ucp.php?i=ucp_pm&mode=options

where you can set up a Rule...in the "If..." dropdown list, select Sender and click the "Next" button

In the new screen, select is foe in the dropdown list and click "Next"

In that screen, you can select Delete message and then click "Add Rule".

Doesn't keep you from digging through your Trash folder but to each his own.

Which means that even when I wasn't posting, they spent a good portion of the morning trying to get me to read whatever brow-beating or personal insults they decided to throw my way this morning. If they cease addressing me, I will be more than happy to ignore their existence forever.

I can't make you read my posts. You do that of your own free will.

Perhaps you could choose not to read my posts? I won't mind. They weren't addressed to you anyway, and do not require a reply from you.

Your choice, amigo. :)

Edited to add: OK, this one was addressed to you, obviously, but a reply is not required.

No doubt Wildcat will be in tow shortly, like a faithful hound, to throw a few random insults into the mix with Xouper's browbeating and condescension

Also, I know what you are trying to do. Despite your protestations to the contrary, I not stupid. I let you drive me off once before. Not giving you the pleasure this time

Then stop reading my posts. They aren't addressed to you anyway (most of them).

Nyarlathotep wrote:Also, I know what you are trying to do. Despite your protestations to the contrary, I not stupid.

You are not stupid, I agree. I am not qualified to diagnose what your problem is exactly, so I won't.

Nyarlathotep wrote: I let you drive me off once before. Not giving you the pleasure this time

It was never my intention to drive you off. I have no problem with you being here.

For the record, the last time you felt "driven off" by something I posted, I apologized, both publicly and privately and invited you to come back.

Nor is it my intention to prevent you from expressing your opinion. Free speech for you and everyone here.

However, given that this is a forum intended for skepticism and critical thinking, then:

  1. It is entirely appropriate to criticize posts that contain flaws of some kind.

  2. It is also entirely reasonable to disagree with the opinions posted by others.

If either of those two things bother you, you are on the wrong forum.

And then there are other times when you say something intelligent and reasonable that I agree with.

Am I going to call out Nyar for being too optimistic about human nature?

It's not "rich person" characteristic emergent or otherwise to like kicking the peasants.

It is the most common of human failings.

The rich are different in that they can get away with it.

I'm not one for you're-another-ism in a general way, but this one is immediately topical.

Why should I relent?

Maybe you could stop posting stupid shit and then there wouldn't be anything for me to comment about?

Or maybe you could just stop reading my replies if they bother you that much. Continuing to whine about it makes no sense at all.

Or maybe you could go back to posting intelligent and reasonable stuff, which we all know you are fully capable of doing.

Because he is going to continue following me around, making snide comments on every little thing I post until I leave or at the very least cease to post entirely. Only I am not leaving because that is exactly what he wants. So we are at an impasse, because anything else that I do, is giving in to what he wants.
