The NYT is at it again

Post by ed » Wed Sep 05, 2018 8:06 pm

Remember that story about some senior guy preaching mutiny? Turned out that that was made up by the NYT.

Today they printed (posted???) this:
I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration

I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.

True?

I sent this comment:
And we should believe that this is authentic why? The NYT has demonstrated over the past year and more that it has unmoored itself from any notion of impartiality. Why is this screed not consistent with the new found tabloid bent of the "Newspaper of Record"? In other words, why should the NYT be trusted?
Doubt that they'll publish it.

If that's the case, then Teh Fucktard has won.

He won back in November. These idiots are playing a game he isn't part of.

I will start a thread of the new Trump hatchet job.

The DNC's main strategy -- for some reason supported by media outfits like NYT -- is that Trump should not have won therefore the whole government can be undermined until DNCdemocracyfreedom returns to the office of the POTUS.

But sure, orange man bad and is the problem.

Indeed he did, thereby starting this fucking dumpster fire. And he continues to throw gas on it.

Even if I were to subscribe to your fringe theory that Trump started a fire, the only gas being poured on it would still be coming from the opposition and neutral press.

No you're right, we're talking about NYT so Alex Jones should be in focus

Fail. We were talking about a dumpster fire. But nice try.

Carry on.

It was already the case before the Teh Fucktard showed up.

No not blaming Obama, I mean like when I was a kid. And probably before that.

Teh Fucktard has simply made you look.

And what of Alex Jones?

A self-made side show freak versus the alleged Paper of Record TM.

And their journalistic methods are barely distinguishable, modulo Alex is more skillful (if not more intense) when it comes to histrionics.

I don't think that the New York Times would just make up something like this out of whole cloth. If they did (fabricate this) and it were later revealed, I wouldn't be able to trust them about anything ever again. Tomorrow's weather, the score of today's baseball game, nothing.

So I'm going to assume that this is true, because if it is not true, then who is left to trust? Certainly not Fox News, or Breitbart, or Alex Jones.

I read the whole thing just to see what it said, and to see if could pass a sniff test. Obviously there is no prima facie way to prove or disprove its authenticity, so we have to use secondary clues, including how much do you trust the New York Times. Who could this person be, assuming it is real? My first thought was maybe it's Ivanka, his own daughter, reputed to be at least somewhat liberal (wasn't she friends with Chelsea Clinton and other wealthy New York liberals before her father ran for president? Wasn't she basically a Democrat herself?). Of course, it could be someone else, she was just the first person who came to my mind.

Maybe they're just relaying something they heard from Lanny Davis.

I don't want to dismiss the rest of your post, but this part really stood out in stark contrast for me. When the internet is a thing why do you need NYT?
