So did Mexico (the incoming administration that is) agree to a "remain in Mexico" policy for would-be asylum seekers, or did they not? There's been reports that they had, but now they seem to be backing away from that.

Incoming Mexico gov't: No deal to host U.S. asylum-seekers
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's incoming government denied a report Saturday that it plans to allow asylum-seekers to wait in the country while their claims move through U.S. immigration courts, one of several options the Trump administration has been pursuing in negotiations for months.

"There is no agreement of any sort between the incoming Mexican government and the U.S. government," future Interior Minister Olga Sanchez said in a statement.

Hours earlier, The Washington Post quoted her as saying that the incoming administration of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador had agreed to allow migrants to stay in Mexico as a "short-term solution" while the U.S. considered their applications for asylum. Lopez Obrador will take office on Dec. 1.

The statement shared with The Associated Press said the future government's principal concern related to the migrants is their well-being while in Mexico. Sanchez said the government does not plan for Mexico to become a "third safe country."

The Washington Post reported Saturday that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has won support from the Mexican president-elect's team for a plan dubbed "Remain in Mexico."

The newspaper also quoted Sanchez as saying: "For now, we have agreed to this policy of Remain in Mexico."

Sanchez did not explain in the statement why The Washington Post had quoted her as saying there had been agreement.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Looks like Kerry agrees with Hillary....

John Kerry channels Trump: Europe 'crushed' by immigration!
Sounding like President Trump for a moment, former Secretary of State John Kerry admitted Europe has been “crushed” by the massive immigration from Islamic nations in recent years.

Speaking at a Guardian Live event at Central Hall in London, Kerry said Europe “is already crushed under this transformation that is taking place due to migration,” noted the Daily Wire.

“In Germany, Angela Merkel is weakened. Italian politics is significantly impacted,” Kerry said.

Kerry then took aim at President Trump, however, saying Europe will suffer further from migration from Africa caused by severe climate change.

In an interview with The Guardian after the event, he said Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord will have deadly consequences.
Well, he had to throw something in there to disagree with 'orange man'...

US agents fire tear gas as some migrants try to breach fence
TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) — U.S. border agents fired tear gas on hundreds of migrants protesting near the border with Mexico on Sunday after some of them attempted to get through the fencing and wire separating the two countries, and American authorities shut down border crossings from the city where thousands are waiting to apply for asylum.
...
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement that U.S. authorities will continue to have a "robust" presence along the Southwest border and that they will prosecute anyone who damages federal property or violates U.S. sovereignty.

"DHS will not tolerate this type of lawlessness and will not hesitate to shut down ports of entry for security and public safety reasons," she said.
You had to know this was coming, right?

They used chemical weapons outside the borders of the U.S. Is this is in violation of the Geneva Conventions?

War crime!

This will be a huge talking point.

As we speak, press photographers are gathered on both sides of the border, vying to see who gets that Pulitzer Prize winning snap of a dead child.

Mexico to immediately deport 500 migrants who 'violently and illegally' tried to cross US border
Mexico has said it will immediately deport up to 500 migrants from Central America who “violently and illegally” sought to cross the US border – pushing past Mexican people and causing US agents to fire tear gas to disperse them.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency suspended all crossings at the San Diego-Tijuana entry point, after hundreds of migrants stormed their way through a blockade of Mexican police and a small number sought to open a space in a roll of razor wire.

With the Mexican police overwhelmed, US agents dispersed the migrants by firing or throwing tear gas. Images taken at the location showed clouds of tear gas hanging in the air, and people moving away from the border.

It is bad for Mexico for the US border to be closed, and I'm not talking about immigration.

Bad for us too! Check your supermarket for prices.

But worse for them. But they're used to starving.

So worse for us.

I like free trade. But on this I say close the U.S./Mexican border.

Easier access to the U.S. market or an open highway for illegal immigration. Pick one, Mexico.

It strikes me that this is only one border crossing. How many are there?

Official checkpoints, or also places where people cross illegally on a regular basis?

Note: Crossing illegally isn't just "illegals" but also US citizens smuggling contraband.

In this case, Tijuana (official checkpoint) is chosen for maximum publicity, plus a city to disappear into on the other side.

Stop being difficult. Nevermind. I googled it.
There are 48 U.S.–Mexico border crossings, with 330 ports of entry. At these points of entry, people trying to get into the U.S. are required to open their bags for inspection. Border crossings take place by roads, pedestrian walkways, railroads and ferries.
So I assume just 1 of 48 border crossings were closed.

Also ... tear gas is really a powder distributed by a smoke generating pyrotechnic.

Point is that a smoke bomb is indistinguishable from a tear gas round visually.

Just sayin'.

Well that's an interesting factoid.

Tear gas is not actually a gas.
