Idiot Of The Week

Post by WildCat » Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:58 pm

Goes to him and all the others who think they'll be safe on a barrier island during a hurricane...

The moron thinks 20 gallons of gas will allow him to fuel 5 generators and power his A/C? Do his generators work under water too?

Sadly he has already reproduced and his stupid genes were already passed on to his daughter who is also staying. Oh well, time to end this genetic line.

I wish him luck. He's going to need it.

Just hours before Hurricane Florence is set to strike the Carolinas, MSNBC’s Kerry Sanders spoke to a woman named Katie who lives in Carolina Beach, North Carolina with her three children.

Katie explained that she was refusing to evacuate and instead was planning to “just try to stay safe during the hurricane.”

“I think we are going to do everything normally,” she said.

“Why the decision to stay and not fall back further inland?” Sanders asked.

“From my experience, getting back into town after the storms is very difficult,” the Carolina Beach resident insisted. “Knowing that our family and friends and our home are all here, we didn’t want to leave them unprotected for a prolonged amount of time. We are going to try to stay put.”

“We have several neighbors saying put,” she added. “We feel there is strength in numbers. We checked in with one another. We are going band together and make it through.”
Good luck.

And we'll (taxpayers) will rebuild all these homes yet again just like after Hugo and Fran.

IMHO not one dime should be spent rebuilding on barrier islands, they should be bought out and the islands made into state parks. The only buildings on them should be the offices and restrooms for the campgrounds.

A panel of scientists on the state Coastal Resources Commission issued a dire warning in March 2010, estimating that the sea levels along the state’s coast would rise 39 inches over the next century. Conservative lawmakers and business interest groups feared the report would hurt lucrative real estate development on the state’s coast and sought to undermine it. A lobbying group committed to economic development on the coast accused the panel of “pulling data out of their hip pocket.”

Conservative state Rep. Pat McElraft, whose top campaign contributors were the North Carolina Association of Realtors and the North Carolina Home Builders’ Association, drafted a bill in response that rejected the panel’s predictions.

McElraft introduced the bill in April 2011, and it passed the legislature in the summer of 2012.

Part of the bill stipulated that state and local agencies must also refer to historical linear predictions of sea level rise rather than current research, and another alarming section required that research look only at 30-year predictions rather than at a century, as the CRC report had done. Supporters of the bill saw short-term benefits in more affordable insurance, and continued opportunities for real estate development and tourism along the attractive coast. Critics saw the long-term consequences of damaged homes and businesses and vast swaths of the state being swallowed by floods.
Is there a viable short position though.

Dozens trapped in storm surge as Hurricane Florence nears landfall on the Carolinas
(CNN) As Hurricane Florence pounds the North Carolina coast with 90-mph winds and relentless rain, more than 100 people have been plucked from a storm surge that's already reached 10 feet, as dozens more await rescue.

The storm's worst scenes so far -- still an hour or two before landfall -- have emerged in the besieged town of New Bern, where about 150 people called for help overnight, city officials said. They urged residents to take shelter at the highest points of their homes, including rooftops.

"In a matter of seconds, my house was flooded up to the waist, and now it is to the chest," said Peggy Perry, who along with three relatives, was trapped early Friday in her New Bern home. "We are stuck in the attic."

Something that I've become more aware of this time around is the kind of fucked up stuff that happens at prisons that get affected.

What, they didn't heed God and build an ark?

NOBODY should risk their life to rescue these idiots. But if they are rescued, they should be billed for the cost of the rescue.

'It's like a bomb has gone off here': Stranded residents hunker down as Florence hammers NC
As Hurricane Florence hammers North Carolina's coastline with relentless rain and wind, first responders are scrambling to rescue residents who didn't heed evacuation orders and are now stranded in their homes, cars and even on rooftops amid rising floodwaters.

About 300 residents in the coastal town of New Bern had been rescued by early Saturday morning and were taken to shelters after the dangerous Category 1 hurricane moved ashore early Friday, according to New Bern's government. Another 100 were still awaiting rescue overnight Friday into Saturday with "three rescue teams who are working around the clock to get into communities to retrieve people."

"It's very unsafe. I immediately spoke with the police chief and we decided we need a 24-hour curfew," Mayor Dana Outlaw said in an interview Friday on "Good Morning America."

"It's just a very, very dangerous situation right now for New Bern," he added.

Apparently the first responders can :)
