Gas explosions

Post by Pyrrho » Fri Sep 14, 2018 2:27 am

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

One dead so far, dozens injured. Dozens of homes have been destroyed. Thousands have gone to shelters for the night. I drove up 93 to NH this evening and the Andover Street exit was closed, as were several on 495.

Ever heard of "infrastructure"? Gas pipes don't last forever, especially if you over pressurize them. Those gas mains have probably been there since the 19th century.

And the fact that energy delivery is a for-profit (fucking capitalist) endevour which means fuck safety, profit comes first! Some things should not be left to the government, and some others should not be left to private or publicly traded enterprise.

I distinctly remember Obama going to congress for money to repair "infrastructure" and Republicans in congress giving him a big middle finger.

I mean, why would we spend any money on that shit when we could cut taxes instead?

So does anyone know if the gas delivery system infrastructure involved is privately owned or what?

I would guess probably privately owned but utilities tend to be heavily regulated.

Massachusetts U.S. District Court Judge Mark Mastroianni dismissed the case in 2016 on legal technicalities. The plaintiffs mistakenly identified the utility in the lawsuit as Columbia Gas of Massachusetts.

The proper legal entity is Bay State Gas Company (doing business as) Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, the utility said.

Why should the federal government pay for Massachusetts' gas utilities?

Why should the federal government spend their budget even looking at things that are the problems of the states? And who, do you think, will be more responseve? Washington or Boston (not a trick question)

Nothing in Taxachusetts is regulated. It all goes to the highest bidder. See The Captain about that one.
