Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Very Own Thread

Post by WildCat » Thu Dec 06, 2018 12:05 am

Since it seems she's a human stupidity machine she really needs her own thread. I'll start off with this:

So she's going to "walk the walk" using other people's money. If she's willing to make such a big sacrifice why doesn't the private sector?

Sounds reasonable to me.

Funny that more Republicans than Democrats pay their interns, although less than 10% either way.

Not really "walking the walk" though is she? And what will she do after she burns through her budget after a few months?

A pretty minor item considering all the crazy shit.

I'll re-post this here because it belongs here.

"Paid intern" sounds like a contradiction in terms. Wouldn't that just make them staff?

And, much like the minimum wage argument, a minimum salary requirement will result in fewer opportunities.

But, as noted above, she has said stupider things.

The number of opportunities to be a congressional intern are pretty limited in any case, and appointments are not dictated by the labor market.

Dunno if it's fake (from July):
Ex co-worker no fan of Democrat darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Most of the staff at Flats Fix, the East 16th Street taco and tequila bar, say nice things about Sandy, as they knew her for the four years she worked there, until she quit six months ago to run for Congress.
But one waitress has a bad memory of working with Ocasio-Cortez, 28, as Ocasio-Cortez tended bar during the very busy Cinco de Mayo celebration in 2017.
At the end of the night, when it came time to split the $560 in tips she had gotten at the bar, Ocasio-Cortez gave the waitress only $50. After the waitress complained to her manager, her take was doubled to $100, a source said.
“It says so much about her character,” said my source. “From that point on, I wouldn’t talk to her. I couldn’t look at her.”

There's an argument about unpaid interns, that only upper middle-class people or wealthier can take those positions because poor people need a wage so that they can eat and pay their rent and other basic living expenses. So it's a class thing in a way. She can hire people who wouldn't be able to work for free.

She compared her own election to the moon landing for historical significance.

Yep..

Sometimes people are what they seem to be. She has crazy eyes. She is probably crazy.

She also makes Sarah Palin look like Madam Curie.

And she's a delusional narcissist to boot.

Trump understand money.

I think he also knows where Palestine is.

She is the Roy Moore of the Democrats. A dunderhead who thinks zeal and righteous certainty is all one needs.

Won't be old enough in 2020.

Probably has to be elected senator first, too. She's not a billionaire after all. :P

'Lobbyists Are Here. Goldman Sachs Is Here. Where's Labor? Activists?' Tlaib and Ocasio-Cortez Pull Back Curtain on Corporate-Sponsored Freshman Orientation
Pulling back the curtain on the ostensibly "bipartisan" orientation for newly elected members of Congress at Harvard's Kennedy School in Boston, Reps.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) informed the public through live social media updates on Thursday that—contrary to the ideologically neutral advertising—the private conference featured a heavy dose of speeches by corporate CEOs and completely shut out organized labor and members of the progressive community.

"Our 'bipartisan' congressional orientation is co-hosted by a corporate lobbyist group," Ocasio-Cortez noted, likely referring to the Koch-funded American Enterprise Institute, which is co-sponsoring the event. "Other members have quietly expressed to me their concern that this wasn't told to us in advance. Lobbyists are here. Goldman Sachs is here. Where's labor? Activists? Frontline community leaders?"
i guess they were not invited?

I’m not sure whether to laugh at her naïveté or at her apparent willingness to kneecap fellow Democrats and their cash cows.
