1.1.1.1

Postby Rob Lister » Thu Apr 05, 2018 12:22 pm

Cloudflare, in cooperation with APNIC have repurposed 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 to Domain Name Servers.

1.1.1.1: Cloudflare's new DNS attracting 'gigabits per second' of rubbish

Cloudflare is conducting an experiment with APNIC, and it's revealing plenty of dirty hacks.
https://www.zdnet.com/article/1-1-1-1-c ... f-rubbish/

I'm currently using Google 8888/8844. I used to use my ISP's default DNS but somebody convinced me that google was safer. I don't remember what actually convinced me but I think it had to do with privacy concerns. It strikes me that whomever I use they can track my every move. Is that really true?

And they're calling Cloudflare's new DNS as an experiment. Does that mean this DNS disappears when the experiment is over?

I'm not to bright about these things. Edumacate me.

Saw something recently about google collecting everything. like every search you make, files that you uploaded to the cloud that you thought were deleted.

It seems people have been using 1.1.1.1 as a programming/networking kludge for decades, hence the garbage traffic.

So this amounts to making 555-xxxx a valid phone exchange.

Works for me, 1.1.1.1 &c are there as promised:

I just re-evaluated my local situation, and my ISP's DNS are still the fastest (for me, of course).
