On my home machine (Win 7), I deleted a bunch of crap when I got it and it never came back with updates.

On my desktop at work (also Win 7), it never had it.

I generally do my own installs of 7. Latest laptop came with 8.1, which I deemed to be a piece of shit, fully loaded with all the bloatware from the hardware manufacturer and more.

C:/ format c:
Are you sure?
Yes.

Fresh install of 7 from DVD.

All is well.

Stopped 7 from updating about 3 years ago.

Better.

If you have enough memory you can always install VirtualBox, grab a Win10 ISO from Microsoft and install it inside VB (30 days trial mode, I presume). So you'll see for yourself if it gives you pimples and dandruff… :dunno:

Well, eventually this (latest) laptop will check out and be unrecoverable. (surprised it's lasted as long as it has...) Then I'll be stuck with 10. I've heard that some of the latest hardware won't run 7, so my install disc which has 2 more installs available won't do me much good.

As for pimples and dandruff: Too late. :)

↑ Concerning the hardware, there are simple registry hacks online. (But how long will they be OK?)

Having an old W10 ISO from when I upgraded from W8.1, I installed it in VirtualBox: no problem. The apps stuff is hidden (sneaky Microsoft) in "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps" so you can see for yourself if it's unbearable. But you'll have to take ownership of the folder & subfolders to open them.

It would be interesting to see if W10 runs inside VB on W7 on an "old" machine!

My old SD card is really most sincerely dead.

Bought a new one. I had all the good photos anyway.

My MicroSD card is currently a Schrodinger's MicroSD card on account of my having inserted it into XD card slot on my card reader. It may be alive or it may be dead, I have no way of knowing without opening the box...
Shit happens. The older you get, the more often shit happens. So you have to try not to give a shit even when you do. Because, if you give too many shits, you've created your own shit creek and there's no way out other than swimming through the shit. Oh, and fuck.

If your computer was a Mac it would read it anyway.
