Upgraded Firefox

Post by Abdul Alhazred » Fri Sep 21, 2018 12:08 am

For online business dealings, I use the latest Chrome in "incognito" mode.

And I have the latest Tor which is under the covers (almost) the latest Firefox.

But my favorite day to day browser at home is Firefox with considerable customization not compatible with the latest.

Tonight I carefully upgraded it one major version at a time from version 20.0.1 to version 24.0 and only lost one add-on and that a minor appearance tweak, so now I am back to the default skin (not that I was ever far from it).

But the big thing is HTML5 works (starting with version 21), and the current enough TLS encryption standard to read nearly everybody again.

Yer all the way up to version 24?

Wow. I'm impressed.

I have a Firefox extension that I use daily that requires version 57 at a minimum.

I am currently using version 62.0.

I developed it for my personal use and that's all I'm going to say about it. 8)

And you didn't make it backwards compatible? :roll:

Bet I could with a one line tweak. <== Even if I'm wrong, you know which line. :P

I just don't like the Chrome-like look and feel of more recent Firefox builds. 8)

I'll wager you can't. :D

And why should I waste (a nontrivial amount of) time making it backward compatible since I am the only one using it and I no longer use older versions of Firefox?

No, it was about the names of the plugins involved (of course I understand xoup's position).

I love all my addons, but I *must* have my menu editor. :coolspecs:

Hit another little snag, so now I'm up to version 27.

Didn't lose any addons. 8)

:figamagee:

Your preceding comment made me realize I only use the menu for three things:
  • open all bookmarks;
  • open the addons tab;
  • reopen a closed tab.
