Weird timing - and now T3h Official Kobra Kai thread!

Post by gnome » Sat Nov 27, 2010 11:33 am

Ok, so I'm working an overnight shift, it's around 5AM and I'm watching The Karate Kid on Netflix because I'm bored and enjoy cheesy 80s movies.

So... got a little perplexed at the timing of the training scenes.

Friday: School, takes Alli (with an i) out to Golf & Stuff
Saturday afternoon: Sand floor.
Sunday morning (start early): Paint fence.
Monday (??) morning: Paint house.
Tuesday (!!) morning: Go water, make kick, learn balance

What the hell happened to school?

I'm a little weird on low levels of sleep.

Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Well, given that you're at work watching tv, netflix no less, I don't see a problem with it. :)

Holiday work at a call center can be very light duty.

It also seemed strange to me in the Karate Kid movies that no one ever thought of calling the police.
In fact, 10,500 BC was the first time Orion's belt was ever visible in the night sky and the alignment is perfect.

If you deny this you simply are a holocaust denier. - Kilik

That would make for a pretty short movie.

Members of Kobra Kai were hand cuffed and jailed today for assault and battery of an old Japanese man and a helpless young teenager. The leader of the Kobra Kai Kult (KKK) purportedly tried to Dragon Kick a police officer and was immediately tazed in the groin. More at eleven...

Nobody ever had a word with Johnny's parents either. They missed the opportunity for a whole subplot where his dad was the corrupt police chief or the mayor or something...

In fact, Alli and Daniel were the only kids in the movie that had parents at all... and Alli's were kind of useless. Interchangeable with Lainie's parents in "Dream A Little Dream"

Pausing for a Meredith Salenger sigh.

Staple of 80's movies if you ask me; there were never any parents around. And if they were around, they were super clueless.

Bumping this thread to start commentary about the first season of the Youtube series "Cobra Kai."

I watched it. It was way better than it had any reason to be. Daniel and Johnny as adults. Many unexpected writing choices (way more so than the movies). Worth the free trial or even $10 for a week's binge.

You have to give credit to them for doing this.

I have seen a few interviews over the years with "Johnnie" and he seems to have a sense of humor about the role . . . and having to hear "Sweep the leg, Johnnie!" more than any man should have to. He, the Rest of the Gang, and Ralph were the best thing of the music video "Sweep the Leg, Johnnie" which I think I linked as a "Japanese Original."

The reviews have been consistently spectacular. So far, so good.
