A fave of mine. First learned of him thru Curse of the Demon which was based on his Casting the Runes.

Anyway, came across a very interesting fan site that is more erudite than most

and

Seems that there have been no updates since 2012. Pity.

I've read 'Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad' (without remembering the author's name). Indeed extremely creepy!

Didn't know such an illustrious name wrote one of my favorite B-movies

Seriously though, I have always meant to read him. I often see him cited as one of the influences on Lovecraft (by none other than The Old Man himself) but I haven't read a word of his

He was a bit of a judgemental jerk. Had very definite, and unyielding ideas on what constituted a "ghost story".

The Penguin editions are comprehensive. Also, check out his contemporeries. Some of the stuff isn't bad, some is dreadful.

I'd love to see curse of the demon redone. Also also, the brit edition of COTD is different from the american. The scenes with the possessed guy are expanded and give a bit more background into Carswell and his evil doings.

The beginning of A School Story is pretty creepy.
Two guys are talking about stories they heard in school and one shares this:
there was the lady who, on locking her bedroom door in a strange house, heard a thin voice among the bed-curtains say, “Now we’re shut in for the night.”
Dunno why but that one creeps me out.
