The NFL Sorry to Make You Cry Off-Season Opportunity

Post by Doctor X » Wed Mar 07, 2012 9:49 am

Long we have thought, "how can we continue to gloat/cry over the NFL in the off-season?"

The draft?

Baseball? Meh.

Listening to predictions on what is rapidly becoming a massive scandal that is Bounty Gate I decided to give a chance for players to get a few extra points for the NEXT game.

What Will The Commissioner Do?

Guess the Fines:

1. Guess the TOTAL Fine the Saints Organization will Receive.
2. Guess the INDIVIDUAL Fines the Owner, Head Coach, Now-Defensive Coordinator for the Lambs, and GM will Receive.

Guess the Suspensions:

1. Length of Coach's Suspension
2. Length of Now Defensive Coordinator of the Lambs' Suspension

Draft Picks:

1. Faints do not have a 1st Round THIS Year but they could lose others.
2. A first round for a subsequent year?

I am thinking a point a piece. Maybe 1-2 point for the one who get the most?

Here is an example guess:
1. Owner-Team Fined $2 million
2. Coach Fined $500,000
3. GM fined $500,000
4. Former DC fined $500,000

Total fine = $3.5 miiiiiiiiiillion dollars!

Coach Suspended 6 games.
Former DC suspended 1 year . . . or maybe a Life-Time ban?

Saints lose next year's 1st round draft pick and this years [He is making up what picks they have this year.--Ed.], both 2nd rounds THIS year and one 2nd round NEXT year.
What do you think? Maybe even have a "Weirdness or Guess a Penalty:" such as:

1. Number of players suspended.
2. Who gets fired--Head Coach, Former Defensive Coordinator, GM?

Suggestions welcome!

--J.D.

P.S. Of course, you get 10 points if you guess Bill Belichick gets suspended . . . but I get 10 points if he does not :P

How can you do this when poor Peyton Manning has joined the ranks of the unemployed?

Maybe some TARP money can get him back on his feet.

Obama's America ignores the Heartland.

However, how will he make ends meet when the STARTING price for him is 20 million!

Sadly, if Luck is everything people claim, it is the correct decision for the Doltz. In 2009-10 . . . after the knee injury . . . with the potential to get The Next Greatest QB Evah™ . . . would not fanboys clamor to have Dark Hoodie "tank the season?"

Or as one commentator put it, "you'd take Hitler, if he could hit the long ball."

It is the right decision: to pay all that money to Peyton for what will be . . . at best three good seasons?

But what if he goes to SF and wins a SB?

Why it is easier to sit on our fat asses and think about these things.

I think you are in the right ballpark as to penalty. They need to hammer them and hard for being this stupid.

I mean, any marginal player is already paid a bounty for causing a limp-off... it is called keeping his job. Making it formal in this day and age is so out of touch to boggle the mind.

My guess is that Luck, barring injury or other circumstance beyond his control, becomes a first ballot HOFer. He has the physical skills, but more importantly intelligence and work ethic. He graduated from Stanford majoring in what, mechanical engineering?

Plus, if the Colts struggle in the AFC, Oliver can get them moved into the Big XII. Imagine the numbers Luck can put up against Iowa State and TCU.

It should have been more. But I imagine player suspensions are coming.

I will add that I did not initially realize that the suspension resulted in his loss of his salary--which is much more than a fine--almost 9 million! That is one hell of a fine! The question is, will Sean Payton be unemployed during that time. If he takes a job as a commentator, that will diminish the punishment.

The defensive coordinator is done. He should remain done. Get another career.

Not sure what more you want, it was a powerful blow to the team and organization.

I'm a bit shocked that players would want to injure other players. That seems incredibly stupid and short sighted.

Isn't it more that they wanted the money?
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

The money versus someone getting them later as revenge?

Very very short sighted.
