I don't why that would be. Look at his career stats. He's been a star for most of his career. Certainly in Japan, but also in the major leagues. 0.83 WHIP, 2.42 ERA. No slouch! I'm pretty sure that most pitchers in Cooperstown have higher ERA and WHIP.
Maybe Daisuke soured Bostonians on Japanese pitchers?
