On the one hand "USMC"--or as the Ex-DI put it "You Signed the Motherfucking Contract!" He knew what he agreed to, and he chose to keep violating the policy.
On the other hand, the policy appears rather draconian particularly in comparison to other infractions. Case in point: while I understand if you keep violating policy--and a violation puts you under greater restrictions which may or may not be fair--the penalties escalate, we are still facing this stupid situation: you get suspended longer for a toke and a drink then you do for punching out a woman about half your weight and abusing a child. And make no mistake: what Peterson did to 'his child" was abuse. Period.
Deflategate, Spygate, Bountygate--and now . . . Piped-in-Noisegate?--exacerbate the situation. Few understand "spygate" and perhaps one can blame His Billness [PBUH--Ed.] for not making it clear: you could film all you want. You can still film all you want. You just cannot do it in one area. Through his arrogance, His Billness ignored a command from Goodell. Goodell is a self-important fat-head, but you disobey orders to your peril.
Now bring in the far more dangerous Bountygate. In this case the coach not only lied repeatedly to Goodell--which His Billness did not do--he tried to obstruct the investigation. Yet, publicly, people think "Spygate" is worse. Much of that is His Billness' Fluffy Character [Tm.--Ed.] and the fact the Pats kept winning. Had the Faints won as much as some thought they should, people may have grown to hate them as well. Nevertheless, ask Brett "I Might Retire I Think" Favrererre(r) about being taken out of a game.
"But everyone did it." And "everyone" taped and still tapes.
Now Deflategate: now it appears that 11 balls were not significantly underinflated.
Nevertheless, we have big fines, potential suspensions--actual suspensions in the case of the Saints--but if you punch out a woman that is only two games. Rape someone? Maybe six games. Beat the shit out of a child? We have all been there!
This all gives the impression that Goodell and His Minions have little interest in "right" and "justice" or even substance abuse, and more interest in being control freaks.
In a way, kudos to Manzel for cluing in--finally.
