“Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I personally resent it bitterly.”

Learned that one of my nieces (9 years old) thought that the word ‘shucks’ was a compound of the words ‘shit’ and ‘fucks’ and this is now the only acceptable use of the word. Please update your dictionaries.

The official meaning is "a person or thing regarded as worthless or contemptible.", but that is only because they can't say the real meaning

Not to be confused with shucking in regards to computer drives

"Dude, you won't believe this, I bought this external HDD yesterday, shucked it and the drive inside is like twice the price of this whole thing. I saved like a 100 dollars!"

I presume one could imagine a plethora of similar analogies:

I do not feel good. I do not feel better. I am dead. I do not feel - anything. Ever.
The dead cannot be seduced.
The dead do not get frustrated.
The dead do not have wants. The dead are simply dead.

I killed mothers with their babies.

I've killed great philosophers, proud young warriors, and revolutionaries.

I've killed the evil, the good, the intelligent, the weak, and the beautiful.

I have done this in the service of His Divine Shadow and his predecessors, and I have never once shown any mercy.

In a Thor comic in the seventies Hela (goddess of death Norse mythology “Hel”) was stopped in her tracks. Death was ended, and she smiled as nothing died.

It took almost no time at all for the conquerors of Hela to change their minds, mostly due to what happened with bacteria

With out death a single bacterium growing and dividing would reach the mass of the Universe in a day

In fire safety regulations, it says "in emergency break glass", then, for your own safety in smoke filled environments, keep as low to the ground as possible.

I don't think they've given much thought to this.

Why aren't selfish pensioners helping to reduce the crime rate by carrying more money around with them? That way fewer of them will have to be mugged in order to take my kids to Disneyland.
