The Get My Mind Right Thread

Post by Pyrrho »

So...the well pump started leaking. Naturally, I unplugged it. Called the plumber and they don't replace those anymore. Have to call someone in a more rural county. I've looked at the situation and I think I can replace it myself.

I got my mind right and found a plumber who replaced the pump, removed the ancient water conditioner system, replaced the galvanized pipe that ran to the hose faucet, and replaced the faucet, within 3 hours, whereas it would have taken me all damn day, with, no doubt, skinned knuckles, burned fingers, innumerable cuss words, and possibly a hernia depending on the circumstances. Also he petted the cat who usually hides from contractors.

Good move. Last month I had to replace the kitchen sink faucet. I had previously replaced the bathroom faucet years ago, so I thought I'd do this one too. When I got under there to look, I knew right away this was a job for a pro. Nothing was leaking, but there were corroded pipes and valves. I pulled a muscle in my back just closing the hot and cold water valves. Called a plumber and they came out two days later and had to replace the valves and a section of pipe before they could install the new faucet, but the whole thing only took an hour. It was worth every penny ($662 parts and labor) to not hurt myself further and maybe fuck up something and flood the kitchen. And the cat slept through it.

it has a disposal and dishwasher-tap and filter tap and spray tap. i haven't sourced what the replacedmenet will cost but probably $350 if i keep the olld disposal. 500 if not. i would have rreplaced it meself 15 years ago. we going to have it replaced next week. pro will charge us 300-400 is suspect. worth it. k. nap time.
